Check the Fuel Filter and Fuel Pump. Also Check under the Hood and Look for a Fuse Relay Box. Inside this Box there should be a Relay for the Starter and Fuel Pump and Crank, Also after Replacing these Take a Flashlight and Check ALL the Fuses Really good in the Box under the Hood and the one Under the Dash on the Inside.. Replace these and let me Know how it goes.

This is a classic example of a failed or failing antitheft system. Changing out the ignition can cause this. And maybe the ignition you pulled out was failing also. Go to this link, I'm sure you'll find what you are looking for.

I'm trying to find out how to fix my radiator leak to my 1995 Oldmobile Achieva

There's a product called "Barr's Stop Leak" that provides a temporary fix...but when you have a radiator leak, its best to either get it fixed at a radiator shop or depending on model...get a replacement.
By just patching a leak...you are putting your engine at risk.

Hello: It is possible that the cluster(speedometer, tachometer, temp, gas gage group) has failed. The signal from the ignition (pass lock security system) goes to the cluster, when the cluster receives it then it sends the password to the engine control module which then allows the engine to start and stay running. If you had taken the car to a GM dealer you would not have been charged a second time, sometimes a little more money on the front end is cheaper.......

After coming out of walmart i started my 96 olds achieva started just fine as i was talking to my girlfriend and putting my seatbelt on it quit. now i wont start and stay running. its starts and dies....

I assume there is gas in it. First thing i would check, or change is the MAF. Mass air flow sensor. If they are faulty, that's typically what an engine will do. Start, and stop. An auto wrecker is probably your best bet. Cheapest anyway.

1996 Oldsmobile Achieva: Security light flashes upon startup

Here is what you do, but only when the SECURITY light flashes - if it is always ON or OFF it's no use.
Turn the key in the ignition to ON.
Wait for exactly 10 minutes ( SECURITY light will flash for 10 minutes and then stay on SOLID)
Turn the key to OFF
Wait 5 seconds.
Turn the key in the ignition to ON.
Wait for exactly 10 minutes.
Turn the key to OFF
Wait 5 seconds.
Turn the key in the ignition to ON.
Wait for exactly 10 minutes.
Turn the ignition OFF.

Start the car normally.
It has relearnt the keycode and you're good to go.
NOTICE - it takes 30 minutes to relearn, that's THREE cycles of ON - 10 minutes - OFF.

Good luck.

1996 Olds Achieva: Security light flashes upon startup

Several GM products, including the Chevrolet Impala and Malibu, the Oldsmobile Alero, the Pontiac Grand Prix, and Saturn Ion, have issues with the Security light coming on. This is many times an indication of a failing Body Control Module (BCM). Initially, the Security light will come on then go off, progressing to a constant on light, before the car will refuse to start. Other symptoms may include erratic action of electronics, a clicking sound coming from the glove box, and the air conditioning failing to blow cold air. I recommend a shop that specializes in the electronic systems of vehicles to diagnosis and make the necessary repairs. They should keep the car until they replicate the symptoms described. A new BCM from GM should cost about $230; plan on another $200 for them to diagnose the problem, replace the unit, and program the new unit. The dealers quote between $700 and $1,100 for the same repair. My experience and the experiences I have read on the internet, indicate the new BCM should last only about a year.

Engine light stays on a 97 olds achieva sl

Engine light stays on, low coolant light stays on , recently had a plastic housing replaced that was leaking, it was linked to thermostat, tranmission coolant, heater ect. Had the thermostat replaced also. Level of coolant is fine, does't overheat anymore, but now the starter wants to spin a couple of times and then it starts. The car has no rust, would like to hang on to it

Ignition problem/electrical

You need to replace the the actuator parts that go from the ignition lock cylinder to the switch they are inside the steering column, this is a very hard job and not for the do it yourself mechanic, there is the issue of the air bag be dis-armed for one, if you don't dis-arm it correctly and it goes off you will have a real bad day, and perhaps your last.
