Question about 2005 Pontiac Grand Prix

1 Answer

2005 Pontiac Gran Prix blower does not work. I check the fuse at HVAC fuse at the end of the dashboard and it is OK. The switch itself activates the AC light on and off when I turn it clockwises/counterclockwise or on/off. Just no reaction to the blower motor...no defrost, heater air coming out.

Check the blower motor which is behind the right side of the dash, in the lower right side of the HVAC Assembly, above foot area of the passenger floor. The other thing to test is the blower motor resistor which should be next to the blower motor.

Check for power at the HVAC CNTRL fuse with the blower set at any speed less than high speed. There should be power anytime the key is in the run position. If there is no power turn off the blower. If there is power with the blower off you need an ignition switch. The ignition switch is what supplies power to the lower speeds.

I think my blower motor went out on my 2005 pontiac grand prix. where is it located on the car?

CHECK BLOWER MOTOR FUSE OR COULD BE FAULTY BLOWER MOTOR RELAY.THE BLOWER MOTOR LOCATED ON THE PASSENGER SIDE OF THE VECHICLE UNDER THE INSTRUMENT PANELYOU HAVE TO REMOVE RIGHT SOUND INSULATOR TRIM PANEL BY REMOVING THE RETAINER AND DISCONNECT COURTESY LAMP.WARNING YOU HAVE AIR BAG IN DASH AREA YOU WANT TO DISARM IT IF YOU WORK AROUND DASH WITH IGNITION SWITCH OFF REMOVE AIRBAG FUSE ON PASSENGER SIDE ON DASH SIDE WAIT 15 MINUTES AND REMOVE DISCONNECT AIRBAG ELECTRICAL CONNECTOR. YOUR OWNERS MANUAL WILL HAVE AIRBAG FUSE LOCATION.IF YOU NOT SURE. CANT LOCATE. LET THE DEALERSHIP FIX.

No power to blower motor wiring on 2002 pont. grand prix. motor runs fine on bench and resister test good. Any ideas?

A bad ignition switch will cause this.

Check the i/p fuses first. there will be 4 you need to make sure are good. The DIC/HVAC, Radio, HVAC Cntrl, and HVAC hi. If the fuses are good check for power to the HVAC Cntrl fuse with the blower and resistor installed and plugged in, the ignition switch set to run, and the blower switch in any position. If there is no power to the fuse unplug the resistor and the blower and recheck. if there is power when those two are unplugged than the ignition switch is bad.

Heater fan wont blow on any setting on 2002 gran prix pontiac?

There are fuses for hi and low blower fan inside the interior fuse panels I know the high one is on the passenger side and believe the low is on the drivers side tho they may both be on the passenger side read the cover after you pull them off easy to find once you read the label if those are both good then its probably the blower resistor, fuse check first.

Condition
Some customers may comment on an inoperative or intermittent Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC) blower motor. Others may comment that the blower motor speed may momentarily drop or that the blower motor continues to run after the key is turned off.
Cause
This condition may be caused by a voltage spike from the wiper motor. The voltage spike may cause a logic lock up in the blower motor control module that may be either momentary or permanent.

I changed the blower motor and resistor on my 2005 grand prix and motor still not working-inside fuse is ok..is there another fuse under the hood? What else could be wrong?

doesnt work on all speeds? ck the big purple wire at the blower motor, on high speed, it should have battery voltage, if it does, then check the black wire, it should have "0" volts (or ground it, see if it then works). If the purple wire does not have power then fuse #30 (30 amp) may be bad.If the black wire has more than "0" volts then the ground may be bad or the "blower motor control processor" =( resistor) is bad, or the ground for it is bad. the ground wire ends up at the cross beam behind radio. If you ground the black wire at the resistor, and it works, then you have a bad ground at the wire, behind the radio. Good Luck.

Blower fan only works on high

CHECK THE HVAC CTRL FUSE.

WITH A TEST LIGHT CHECK THE BLOWER RESISTOR FOR POWER ON THE YELLOW, TAN, PURPLE, AND LIGHT BLUE WIRES. THE ORANGE WIRES CONTROL THE HIGH SPEED CIRCUIT. DO THIS FOR EACH POSITION OF THE BLOWER SWITCH.

THE BROWN WIRE ON THE HVAC CONTROL CONNECTOR 1 POSITION B COMES FROM THE HVAC FUSE 20 AMP. NO POWER ON THAT WIRE WILL CAUSE THE BLOWER TO NOT FUNCTION ON THE LOWER SPEEDS.
