Question about 2000 Lincoln LS
I have a 2000 Lincoln LS that is currently be serviced by a local independent car repair person but he's having problems fixing a power with the engine producing low power and the transmission is not shifting correctly (stalling or missing 1st or 2nd gear). The car had it's transmission replaced for a used one 3 years ago after that transmission failed. The car had coil problems in the past and 6 and 8 were replaced. We have replaced 3 more coils, but the plug only and not the spring. So 2 coils were completely replaced, 3 plugs only were replaced, and 3 were not replaced. Sparks plugs were replaced along with a new battery. We believe the low power is the the reason it's not shifting correctly. Is the problem simply all of the springs and plugs for all of the coils need to be replaced? What about the shifting problem?
Has your tech checked this vehicle for an exhaust restriction? He can check this with a vacuum pressure guage at the DPFE sensor hoses. You should have 1psi or less at idle and 3 to 4 psi at wide open throttle.Anything else would be a restriction.
Are you getting any trouble codes with this?
