Question about 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee

2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee makes a whining noise over 50mph

Took the jeep to dealer and paid $1500 for this to be fixed and it isn't. They changed all 4 tires and balanced. Replaced seals and bearings on rear axles, flushed coolant and serviced front and rear differentials.
What the heck is the problem??? Has anyone else had a problem like this??? I only hear the noise when I'm going over 50mph.

Oh and by the way, transmission was replaced last year at 68,000 miles.

Thanks, I'll have someone ride with me to help me find where it is coming from. It only happens when I go 50mph or more and then it goes away....just whines for a few seconds. All the gauages show everything is ok. According to the Jeep dealer they checked everything...but who knows. They said the noise didn't happen when they test drove it.

Thanks again for your help and I'll have someone try to pin point the noise for me.

    Have a great day.

I just had the same problem and the dealship fixed it right away. that sound can be annoying. $1500 was way to much to pay. i paid $49 dollars to have a diagnostic. the only thing that needed to be done is for the wheel bearing to be greased. the problem was solved.

Did they chk.U joints? can you pin point more or less where its comming from? i know its diffacult to pin point but that would help. get a couple of your friends and go for a ride and see if you can figure out what part of the car its cumming from. and just because the trans. has been changed dosent mean thats not it either, does it change pitch when you lift off throttle or when you give it throttle? does it have 4 wheel drive, does it do it when its in 4 wheel drive? is it comming from under the hood like altanator, or water pump, or idler polley $1500 they should have found the problem, especialy when they took it for a test drive. There Professional Tecnitions. i know i havent been much help, but i'am kind of like a doctor need to know all the simtims to make a dianoses or cure. i'am here to help if i can. OLD SCHOOL.

Take it back to the last people that worked on it!!!!! If it wasn't like that when you took it there, it shouldn't do it when you get it back.
You paid them money,,,,make them earn ALL OF IT.

I need to see the fuse box diagram for my 2004 jeep grand cherokee to see if my turn signal fuse is blown because neither signal is blinking or working

I just paid the local Chrysler Dodge Jeep dealer $95 to tell me that my fuse box (junction box) has a short in it. He wants $995 to fix it. I previously replaced the turn signal switch, but could not remove the flasher unit with the junction box in place. I've now removed the entire junction box out of curiosity, and it took the full grips from both hand to pull the flasher. I've looked all over the internet to find the replacement part number, P56038406AJ, but with no luck. I'm now cruising the junk yards to see if there's a Grand Cherokee with one I can pull out at a reasonable price. I'll walk to hell before I pay Chrysler $995 to have a working turn signal. Most people in Georgia don't use them anyway!

2004 Grand Cherokee Whine - What is the Problem

It sounds like your power steering fluid is low. When the fluid is low there will almost always be a constant growl coming from the pump. Worst case - it may be the pump itself going bad. . I own 3 Jeeps but have only had this problem on my 87 Cherokee.
Ford PS pumps are notorious for making noise as they get old, but they still seem to work ok. This may be the case with your Jeep. If the PS still works and the fluid level is normal, it may just be a matter of whether or not you can stand to listen to the noise.

2004 jeep grand cherokee limited makes a noise

Sounds like a loose belt, Depending on what engine etc., it may need to be changed or if you have adjustment, tightened. When adjustment or replacement done, is a good time to check all pulleys. If your not up to it, an adjustment should not cost too much, few minutes work in most cases, if belt needs changing, price of belt & a little more labor involved.
