    Where and how can i find the fuel pressure?

    After it shifts up to 5500 RPM going from second to third it makes a clicking or backfiring sound. its not knocking the car isn't shaking. When im driving regular around town i need to punch it to get it to go. The car doesn't go anywhere unless i hit it hard.

    thanks for the help

Hello;
You need to test the fuel pump. I have seen these pumps test in range but if it is slightly on the low side the Z28 performs poorly. The pump is in the tank. ALso check your fuel pressure regulator and change the filter. You will think you have a new car after this. Hope this helps.

    Hello;

    There is a schrader valve on the fuel rail. Looks like a valve stem on a tire. The fuel pressure gage screws on to there. The regulator is under the fuel rails. There will be a vacuum line connected to it. Remove the vacuum line and make sure there is no fuel present, if there is fuel then the regulator is leaking. If everything checks out hten you may need to get the injectors cleaned.

Sounds like a fuel pump struggling to pass its contents. try running a treatment solution in your tank. if this fails to work, you will need a new fuel pump to correct this problem. sometimes, trash will build up in your tank and it will cause build up in the jets. you should check vacuum as well if needed.

I had a similar problem, took it to get diagnosed and was instructed to give them $1100 because of a faulty reading on the distributer, rather than paying $650 for a unit I found plenty available new for under $200 I bought an OEM for $189. Now the labour can be found cheaper elsewhere. I then discovered that the module may also be at fault but I would have to replace the dizzy first, Then discovered that the Air Flow meter {afm} may need to be taken off and cleaned with a carby cleaning spray, this is a do it yourself fix costing you about $8 a can of cleaner
Unscrew the units clamps and disconnect the plug, I can't stress enough, DO NOT touch the fine wires inside, spray the carbon buildup off the inside and blow/air dry, {do not rinse with water.} reinstall the unit in the reverse of which it was removed, Alternativly you may have fuel blockage in the lines, try replacing the fuel filter {cheapest fix}
Hope this helps
