Fuel gauge fluctuates on 1995 chevrolet tahoe

Recently replaced the gas tank and fuel sending unit and now the fuel gauge fluctuates

When going up a steep hill the gas gauge needle drops to empty and the low fuel light on the dash comes on even thought there is a half a tank of gas in the Tahoe. This is a 2005 Z71 and has 109,000 miles on it.

If you replaced the tank and all i assume you didnt change the fuel pump. if you dint then all thats wrong is that the float on the fuel pump is gas logged and will move more than if you had put in a new pump thus the fluctuation in the guage.

Could be bad ground, or loose connection.

Make sure all connections are tight. sounds like a ground problem. or flote in tank is not working right or catching on something.

Why is my gas guage is going up and down in my 1999 caravan?

Could be power fluctuations to the fuel gauge sending unit, a bad sending unit or a bad gauge. The sending unit would be the most likely cause.

Why fuel gauge not working gas guage on 2009 santa fe stays on empty even with a full tank of gas. Guage fluctuates from empty to 3/4 full to empty to 1/3 full at any given time.

It could be the sending unit in the tank or the gauge on the dash. A mechanic would test the signal coming from the sending unit to verify.

Fuel guage on chevrolet 2001 fluctuates

sounds like a fuel sending unit issue from your description.
see if this fits the bill.

that is for the

good luck.

by the way the issue may be one or more things to be honest. the fuel in the tank may be moving around and as it shushes from side to side the electrical resistance in the variable potentiometer of the fuel sending unit will either increase or decrease.

an example would be a full tank of gas will cause a floater attached to a lever to float to the top of the gas tank. now as the gas gets lower the level wil drop and so will the float. now remember it's attached to a pot so as it moves it's electrical value decreases. and the gas gauge reads the value as a fuel level.

if the gauge dose not move when the vehicle is idle then id say it;s just the gas moving around within the tank. it's worth a shot to test this before spending any money on it.

good luck.

Bought 2003 Tribute V6 recently. Is it normal to hear loud vaccuum noise coming from pedal area when foot not on brake? Also, is it normal for fuel gauge too rapidly fluctuate, went down a quarter after 38...

No, none of this is normal. The load vacuum noise may be a busted diaphragm in the brake booster. The fluctuating fuel gauge is either a bad sending unit in the fuel tank or a bad fuel gauge.

Fuel guage fluctuates truck seems to lack fuel and sputters

you may have a bad fuel pump or a bad injection pump, here are picture of the two, as far as the gauge you may have a bad fuel sending unit, this is in the tank and work like a toilet float and sends a signal to the gauge, the injection pump and fuel pump are located on top of motor you would need to have the preasure checked on both before just replace them hope this is helpful.31a2121.jpg22edc2f.jpg
