Question about 2004 Kia Optima

1 Answer

Need to change 2004 Kia head/brake lights.

Currently three bulbs are out; I have had the car for 2.5 years and never changed the bulb.

I have searched through the web and can not find a clear cut way of changing the bulbs; is there a way?

I truly will appreciate any assistance you can give.

Thank you for responding but when you say counter clockwise do you mean if you are facing the car or if you are looking at the headlight from the engine side?

Sorry I am a bit anal.

mpodeszek I forgot to say that as soon as it is warm enough for me to try I will let you know if it worked for me.

I spoke with the service at my local Kia and the rep said that it will cost me $30 for them to change my lights and that was even though I have already purchased the lights. I hope the solutions posted will do the trick.

Are they on when your headlights aren't on? they shouldn't be. Maybe you just blew both bulbs, and you notice when you turn your head lights on. Your brake lights and tail lights are 2 different bulbs on that car.

Was any of the brake light bulbs changed recently, the wrong type of bulb may be used causing a short in the socket, and making the rest of the brake and signal circuit malfunction. I no bulbs were recently replaced, start with checking for corrosion in each bulb socket, signal and brake bulb sockets. Let us know what you find

There were problems with the circuit board assemblies on the earlier years of the Envoy. Also check the socket for the brake light, make sure the contacts are OK.

2005 scion both tail lights out changed bulbs changed fuse still out

Your brake switch may need adjusting. Also, you may have bulb receptacles that are burned out, so the new bulbs won't light up. Your car was made between July 2004 to June 2005, so your car is about 5 years old, so something can either be warn out or burnt. Use a testlight at the brake light cluster while someone else pushes on the brake (car might need to be on). Good luck.

Stop light

Rear combination light assembly contains three bulbs. Two bulbs are single-filament and are used in hazard/turn signal and backup light circuits. Third bulb is a dual filament bulb; one filament functions as brake light and other as tail light. A plastic bulb holder mounts three lamps and associated wiring. Bulb holder can be removed from inside vehicle for bulb replacement

Hi we have a Kia Rio and the side brake lights have both gone out but the centre brake light still works. It isn't the fuse or the lamps as all have been changed, any ideas?

Bad brake pedal switch. This assembly actually does three "jobs"; turning each left/right bulb on and then the center "eye"...accordianman
