SOURCE: 1998 Buick Lesabre How do you test the coil packs?

the coils are one integrated block with 3 separate segments. the coil pack is mounted to the ignition module and can be unbolted from each other. one can test the coils from the underside of the coilpack with a dvom. having said that your car should still start if one paired coil fails, it would however miss on one or two cylinders. I would suggest to scan for codes, monitor live sensor data to see if you have a valid crank signal, check fuel pressure and spark voltage

SOURCE: 1987 Buick Century, V6, 2.8L will not start. No

the 3 coils are mounted to the ignition module and as long as the sensors that signal the module to fire the coils individually are working I would try a module especially if all 3 coils are not firing..also if you have an ohmmeter for checking electrical resistance, the spec for the coils are 5000 to7000 ohms, measured between each coil from tower to tower (ie) #1and#4 2+5 and 3+6 any more than that and the coils are toasted..lol hope this helps also check the spark plug wires at each end maximum resistance is no more than 1000 ohms per inch,,,good luck

Testimonial: "Coils and plug wires check good. If the ignition switch is bad would it give a symptom of not controlling spark to the coils"

What is causing my car to cut off then start again after 10 mins..Buick century 2000 3.1

In this year the most common reason is a defective crankshaft position sensor, but you really need the OBD2 engine control fault codes read to confirm this fault is present. This OBD2 fault code test can be run for free by any Autozone or other chain auto parts store.

1994 buick century coil pack location

The three coil packs are on the top of the engine, (I assume this is the 3.1 V6?) here is a picture of the coil pack, but all you need to do is follow the spark plug wires back to the coil packs (there are 3 on the V6).

89 old ciera cross ref.

Column shift tilt wheel:

Ciera '89, '90
Buick Century '89, '90
Chevrolet Celebrity '89, '90
Pontiac 6000 '89, '98

Column shift w/o tilt

Olds Ciera '89, '90
Buick Century '89, '90
Chevrolet Celebrity '89, '90
Pontiac 6000 '89, '90

Floor shift...same options. Tilt and/or no tilt is a matter of preference as the wiring harness is the same, so either will work. Floor shift is floor shift only,'89 and '90 Ciera, Century, Celebrity, 6000.

Hope this helped.

there is a module located inside the coil pack (rectangular or square) that needs a thin film of grease under it to keep it insulated and cool....check it out to see if it is dry...if so you can get a small packet of special grease at auto parts stores to fix this prob...
