SOURCE: how do you remove old broken windshield wipers from its arm

Look on the wiper arm where it contacts the blade assembly. There should be a small plastic device that can compress between you finger & thumb. Once this clip is squeezed together, pull the wiper blade down towards the base, to dislocate it from the clipping area, and then wind it off of the arm itself, you should not need any tools.

One windshield wiper is working, but the other isn't

When one windshield wiper isn't working like it should it may be a loose nut. The nut is located at the base of the wiper arm. There may a plastic tab covering the top of the wiper joint. You should see the nut when the tab's removed.
Check the nut for tightness. If it's loose the wiper pattern will probably need readjusting. Reset the arm by loosening the nut to where you'll be able to move the arm. Set the arm where you believe the it should be. Tighten the nut and run the wipers. If the wipers are working well with each other, and you're satisfied with the windshield coverage finish tightening the nut. Replace the plastic tab.
If the nut comes loose repeatedly you may want to apply a small amount of threadlock to the threads before readjusting the wioer and tightening. Use only a small amount of threadlock.

My buick regal 1998 wipers stay upright when the car is turned off ,how can i fix it?

You need to replace the crank arm that is attached to the wiper motor. Then bend the tab back up on the wiper motor bracket that got bent when the crank arm went bad. The crank arm catches the tab when you shut the wipers off so they back up and go down to the park position.

How do you take off broken wiper arm on 84 buick skylark

you'll need to flip the wiper arm back towards you until it locks in the upward position. look for a small shiny pull tab at base of the arm. pull that tab outwards while prying up on wiper arm. it should come off with light pressure. this pulls the whole wiper arm off. hope this helps you!!

Windshield wiper blades stick in upright position when turned off.

yes google this problem and you will find that under the wiper motor is a plate with a metal tab that should be bent @90 degees. over time it bends down and will not contact the oter metal plate on motor.. you need to remove cap holding wiper arms on then remove wiper arm, then remove plastic cowling, the remove plastic cover over motor, then u will see tab bend it back up and u will be fixed. mark wiper arm position on shaft so you assemble in the same position

Wipers land in wrong position

I had the exact same problem with my 2000 buick century which i also bought used and after asking GM what it could possibly be they told me it was the whole wiper arm assembly which would be over $700 to replace. I decided to have a look myself and discovered that a small metal tab which makes the wipers park was bent and the mechanism was not engaging after turning the wipers off. i simply bent the tab back carefully and they parked again, saving me hundreds and it took about 15 minutes.

Open the hood and look where the wiper arms attach to the spindle. remove the caps covering the nuts, then remove the nuts. the hardest part here is most likely going to be getting those arms off. then remove the plastic grille under the right wiper arm (driver's side).

When you can get at the motor assembly, turn the wipers on and off and watch how it assembly operates and see if you can find the tab. This is the best picture i could find with google.

Once i found the tab i took a large flat head screwdriver and tapped it gently with a hammer to bend the tab back. you can tell when you turn the wipers on and off that they park properly. When it came time to put the wiper arms back onto the spindles i set them where they would be when turned off (resting in the plastic cradle at the lowest position).

I hope this was helpful. i know it was for me.
