Question about 2004 Chrysler Pacifica

M2004 pacifica timing belt broke &replaced , still barely ran double checked timing rplaced cam sensor , crank, mapp throttle, &others still runs bad do u think it scrambled the brain or what?

SOURCE: need to now where timing marks are located on 1997

Hello carolnaes: My name is Roger and I will help. The picture of the timing marks are attached. I will caution though that Mitchell repair calls this a interference motor. Meaning if the engine turns over with the belt off. The valves of the engine can and may be damaged. I also checked All Data and they said it could possible cause valve damage. theres a reflash program that needs to be done on these cars, because of extended crank time and cam / crank syhcronizing out, start there,also i had one with same code and found that aftermarket cam sensors dont work, installed dealer part and had the updated reflashing done and solved the problem.

when you broke the belt you most likely broke the magnet for the cam sensor. What you need to do is spin the engine around to TDC and look for a magnet.

Take the sensor out first.

no problems with cams i know of
if you bought it new ask the service manager if he could ask the factory reps. to "good will" the repair it also helps if you have a service history with the dealership other than warranty repairs

2004 4.2 let Touareg cranks won't start after timing belt replaced. No fault codes compression is good.


Hi , First off if the motor ran fine before the belt was replaced but not now tells me the belt was not installed right ( not aligned up to timing marks correctly) and will need to be taken apart and rechecked. Keep in mind cranking it alot when belt not installed right can lead to valve damage so it's better to check belt alignment 2-3-4 times before cranking. Also make sure Cam and Crank sensors are all plugged back in along with other sensor connectors before starting because not only will it not start but can damage other parts on a motor design to work in harmony with every thing else.

2002 ford zx2. I replaced the timing belt and the car is timed perfect but still wont start. Any suggestions?


Check for spark, if no spark check your crank position sensor, cam position sensor, plug wires, ignition coil, plugs properly gapped.

If you have good spark, check your fuel pressure, if good check your coolant temperature sensor.

Double check that you CORRECTLY aligned the marks on the timing belt, double overhead cam engines are more involved and require a specific procedure.

03 stratus replaced broke timing belt,crank and cam sensor it cranks has fuel and spark but no start whats up?


If your sure the timing belt is correctly installed, then check compression. you very well may have bent some valves when the timing belt broke. low or no compression will be a sign that this is the case.

Changed timing belt,crank sensor,timing marks dead on.started car ran for 10min it shut off battery was dead replaced still will not start with new battery cranks no start. same reason for changing crank...


there could be to problems same happend to me

1.you might have a problem with your alternator go get it checked at auto zone or something

2.theres a magnet next to the throttle boddy sometimes it overheats and shuts the car completley off so u might to get a new one!!

Timing belt problem

No fire @ coil


make sure the cam sensor is plugged in properly, located on the drivers side on the side of the head, if is is I would check make sure the cam is turing, if is is it could possably be the timeing is out on the belt
