hle 81: You use "DOT 3" or DOT 4" Brake fluid.
As far as motor oils, Mitsubishi recommends 5W-30 in colder climates and 10W-30 in hotter climates. Using a good quality oil and changing it on a regular basis along with the replacement of a quality oil filter will give you a long life motor.
At my shop, I use Castrol GTX 10W-30 and usually the OE filters.
I suggest changing the oil at 3,000 mile intervals. Not all the tech's on line agree to the same intervals, but having owned and operated my own shop for 30 years and been in the trade since 1968, I have found that the common denominator for the longest lived motors were the ones with the scheduled changes like I had mentioned. I have customers with Toyota's, Nissan's and Honda's which have gone past 300,000 miles on the original motors without oil consumption problems.
