Question about 1999 Mercury Villager
I have been haveing problems with my van and not sure what it is. maybe someone coud help. It started fine for a while then another time i would start it but it would run rough then smoth out and run fine. it did that for a while then going down the road today it died well going down the road. Any ideas of what it could be? plz help.
If I am understanding this right it is totally dying while you are driving. I am going to assume that it turns over at this point but does not sound aas if it is getting gas. If this is the case you have one of two or both problems. The fuel pump or the fuel relay. I would start with the fuel relay.

check the spark plug wires, put water in a spray bottle and spray along the wires, especially by the coil,if the car starts to run bad or you see sparks, the wires are no good, hope this helps, Ray

Check your inertia switch. This is usually located in the rear interior of the vehicle. It has a reset switch you hold for 3 seconds. It is a safety switch to kill the fuelpump in an accident. Can trip with door closings.

Sounds like your gas guage isn't accurate. A fuel pump is not designed to draw fuel from the tank until it is completly dry. This is to avoid sucking up all the debris on the bottom of the tank.
