The engine light, any type of dash light that comes
on or stays on after the motor is running, have been
on all vehicles for over 30 years

You need to at some point read any owners manual

Read any owners manual, even one from someone
elses car

Please use google & study OBD2 Automotive Systems

I say that because the check lights have been around so many
decades & are so common & so well know ,that you need
to get up to speed

Any time you have such a light on your dash, your car
has a system failure of some type & needs to be checked
for codes ,another very well understood process done by
all vehicle owners, every time a light comes on,then have
a repair shop do the proper diagnoses to resolve & repair
the issues

It sounds like you might have a small fuel leak allowing the system to loose prime over time. check for wet fittings and pipes between the high pressure pump and the injectors.

My 2007 GMC Yukon will not start in cold weather. When I turn the key over the lights/dash controls come on, but the engine does not turn over at all. Nothing. Put a new battery in and still does it. It is a random occurance. Would not start for two days this week so I had it towed to the dealership and the next morning it starts without the service dept doing anything??? Bring it home and two days later it does it again??? Any ideas?

I have a 2001 ford escape 2.0L and i was having trouble of it turning over when the car was warm. If it was a cold start it would start right up. If i drove for a while then turned it off, it wouldnt start back up unless i let it sit for an hr or 2. But once started it would run fine

SOLUTION: I changed the fuel injectors $120 for parts. And now all the hot starting problems went away.

Hope this helps

Check your battery terminals. They may be corroded or just loose. If you get it running again have the battery and charger tested at an Advance or Autozone.

Hope this helps.

Check Engine Light, Code p0340, triggered by other accessories?

its probably just grounded wires.. check your car's wiring.. if you can't do that yourself. Have an electrician/mechanic check it for you..

2001 Jeep GrCh. starts, let go of gas, it stops. Battery not to

Besides the obvious: checking your alternator/charging system. If the check engine light is not on, or it comes on, and after awhile it comes off, then a couple of hours or days later it comes on again it might the crankshaft sensor. It happened to me, and it was a pain in the neck to diagnose as the check engine light had turned off and the computer wouldn't read any codes to diagnose the problem. My mechanic was trained by Mopar/Jeep, so he immediately knew what was happening.

If it is a dead or shorted battery, when the RPM's are up the vehicle will run, and you might notice a loss on power. Once the engine goes to idle and the RPM's come down the engine will die, as there is not sufficient electrical power generated by the alternator to supply the engine. A bad alternator will cause battery problems.

Service Engine Soon Light comes on but doesn not stay on.

If your battery starts turns the engine over, it is doing it's job well. It sounds like your engine computer is not liking the cold engine. If it has been a while since a tune up, it would not hurt to go ahead and do it, but if it runs ok after it warms up, I sould not worry about it a whole lot. When the engine is cold, the egr valve and other things that are made to limit polution tend to stick and give the computer bad readings. A serious tune up may fix it, and I think should, but you MAY still be in the same boat! That does not FIX it for you, but should ease your mind on the light.
