Other 2000 Taurus owners experienced same problem. It may be due to thermostat, heater coil, clogged lines. Best to see mechanic.-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

hello first check your idle with the car running foot on brake see were your rpm reading is if your below 500rpm check your label underhood for your curb idle setting second see if theres a adjustment screw you can increase were your gas cable lever rest against your set screw underhood if you feel confident enough remove your iac motor idle air control valve if the bore were the end of the pintle extracts out to close has varnish builup our carbon it will stick creating vacuum leak type senario causing stalling rough idle sometimes even no start conditions good luck

SOURCE: 2000 sienna stalls, loses power and engine sounds

After about 100K + miles the idle air control valve (IAC) begins to collect carbon deposits that interfere with the movement of the spring-loaded valve. You will not be able to clean this without removal and dissembly of the IAC body. Use an emory cloth or fine sandpaper to remove the build up around the valve. This should free it up to rotate without binding. This is a temporary fix, of course, and will either require cleaning again or replacement of the valve. Getting to the IAC requires removal of most of the intake upto, but not including, the intake manifold. Total time is approximately 3-4 hours, but worth it. Good luck, and I hope this helps.

2000 Ford Escort zx2 runs rough and stalls in reverse


The Ford Escort ZX2, the 2.0 liter is a interference engine,The valve and the piston kissed each other as they met with a broken timing belt,Just to let you know a cam position sensor does not create rough idle, it can stall the engine at a stop sign,but the solution is a valve job, and who ever put the timing belt on after the job should have done a cylinder effeciency test.

could be the cold air selnoid on the air intake on a ford if it is bad will run at normal speeds and will die at idle. also Vacuum system should be checked
