SOURCE: 2002 jeep grand cherokee with 4.0 engine will die but restart

p0340 is the cam shaft sensor, this will cause it to cut off while driving, hardtime starting, p0351 is the ignition coil A primary/secondary curcuit mal function. p1391 is ignition system misfire, this could be plugs, wires, or coils. first of all have the cam sensor changed and it may correct the rest of the codes. when fixed turn light off with obd2 scanner. if you do not have one, then any auto parts store will erase the codes fo free of charge.

Do not replace the spring. Your Car is Fuel Injected and the Idle Air Control is designed to help with the Idle. I would recommend CLEANING the IAC,, Running SEA FOAM through the Fuel System and a Tune Up

2000 Jeep Cherokee Sport I-6. Runs rough at idle sometimes and will go away if you bring rpms up for a little while and then release throttle. Usually runs rough after it has been driven and restarted.

A VERY Recent Tune Up MUST Be Insured to Properly Diagnose this Discription, If the Vehicle Has Not Had A Recent Tune up That CAN be the Cause of Your Symptoms, If it HAS been Tuned up, then With these Symptome the Check Engine Light Should Illuminate, and If the Light is On It Must Be Checked For Codes and Fallowed up From there. If No CEL Try Changinging Fuel Filter, As This Will Cause Poor Performance Without Turning ON the CEL.

Will not start the first try but will start the second try but runs rough then smooths out and drives ok 1998 jeep grand cherokee 4.0

sounds like you either need a tune up,or the starter is going bad.It probably runs rough due to unburned gas from failed starts.

I have a 1994 Jeep Cherokee, V6. It idles rough and It has power loss when I hit the gas. It eventually gets going but studers.

When was the last time this engine had a tune-up? Is the check engine light on? If so, reading the codes will get you looking in the right places. It sounds like it is missing badly.

Runs rough, black smoke, computer bank 1 burning too lean

Sounds like bad injectors, bad O2 sensors, and or too much fuel psi. Check the fuel psi against what the service manual says. If the fuel psi is too high, your regulator is bad. If the fuel psi checks out ok, you likely have a bad O2 or bad fuel injector(s).

OK...if someone gives me a bad rating on this, I'll be really annoyed...
saw off the "fixed" hold-down on the distributor and use a chevrolet smallblock hold-down. Once re-installed turn distributor ccw about 1/4" or slightly more. If I'm correct, engine should run fine after that.
