This sounds like a ground issue or a relay. If you take the car to a major auto parts store they can run a diagnostic for free usually to see what it is.

SOURCE: 98 ford contour no power

There should be a Maxi-fuse for this circuit. If the smaller fuse for the blower is good, but not showing positive potential, check all the larger plastic fuses, called maxi fuses. One of these should be at fault. They are all labelled in cover diagram, or in owner's manual. If these are all good, and you have no power to the fuse, you could have a burnt fusible link; but this should disable more than one accessory. Hope this helps! Are you sure you tested for power correctly?

1996 ford contour heater blower motor doesn't work. only worked on high before

First, check the blower motor fuse. If it is ok, disconnect the electrical lead from the blower motor, and apply direct power and ground to the motor electric terminals. If the blower motor fails to operate, it is defective. If the blower motor now operates with direct power, but doesn't when reconnected to the car's electrical system, there is likely a problem with the switch, the blower motor resistor, or a bad connection in the wiring. Hope this helps.

1998 ford contour blower motor not working

I have a 1998 Ford Contour. Believe it or not the ABS and the Blower Motor share the same fuse. It's a yellow 60 amp and you have to take off the battery to get at it. Of course this happened twice in the 6 years I had the car, both times in the dead of winter. Tires Plus in Pennsauken, NJ replaced it. Other than that, no complaints with my Contour.
