Question about 1999 Nissan Sentra

Radiator hose blew off while driving

Refilled fluids and re attached hose engine runs but if i drive more than a mile it starts to get hotter i never let it touch the H though what could be wrong? smoke came from the back when it happened then it started blowing cold air and i looked in the radiator reservoir and saw bubbles coming up.

you can get a recharge kit at Auto Zone, the car has to be runnung to fill it. . This is the first thing I would do, to see if it's out of freeon first.

Ask the Auto zone man to come out side and help you refill it. They will help if you ask.

Ther e is a chance your injectors are leakin g down and there is excess fuel in the cylinders. Not a good thing. So, you fuel pressure and injectors need chkg. good luck

The most likely cause of your concern would be the fan control amp. It is located behind the glove box. It controls the ground side of the blower motor. But before replacing it, check to see if you have power and ground at the blower motor.

SOURCE: White smoke occasionally coming out of my Altima tail pipes.

If there is no loss of Coolant, which is a sign of Head gasket failure to the combustion area, which generates white smoke, I would recommend after 4000 miles of your mileage alone, a complete Service of Engine Oil and filter, AIR filter and Fuel filter.
An inexpensive way to find a recurring combustion problem, At 60k miles, the Spark plugs should still be good, but pull them anyway, just to confirm.

Hi I just had my GT99 forester reconditioned as the headgaskets blew from overheating and now the transmission is playing up it won't move in reverse and slips in drive. Thanks


Overheating can degrade the trans fluid, or the mechanic may have not replaced the fluid lost while doing the engine work. First, check fluid level (running, in park). If OK, drain and replace fluid and filter, noting the color and smell. Fluid should be light red and not smell burnt. Since draining the trans only gets about 1/2 the fluid (some being trapped in the torque converter) drain and refill, then run car several miles if possible, and drain and refill twice more to get 90% of the fluid changed.

Replacing radiator do you have to prime the oil cooler first


Yes. !!! Also verify fluid level before driving with engine running. may take up to a qt or more to prime... Connect bottom hose fill fluid with small funnel and attach upper hose start, check level.

How to replace the radiator fluid


- Make sure the engine is cold and not running.
- Drain the radiator fluid by opening the drain plug at the bottom of the radiator or for a better/faster drainage and cleaning, carefully remove the bottom radiator hose by first loosening the hose clamp.
- Open the radiator cap and water rinse/flush the radiator core via a garden water hose until you no longer see any dirty water coming out of the bottom hose (or drain plug).
- Flush the radiator over flow (plastic) container by overfilling it with your garden water hose.
- remove garden water hose, carefully refit the bottom radiator hose, tighten the bottom radaitior hose clamp, refit/tighten the radiator drain plug.
- refill the radiator with approved radiator fluid for your climate and also refill the radiator overfow tank to the indicated level..
- Refit radiator cap
- Start your engine until it warms up and check for any water or steam leaks. Refit and or replace any faulty hoses or radiator (regulator) cap!
It is not difficult and have fun!

1996 Acura 3.2TL Overheating Problem...


From your description of symtoms it sounds like you have a bad water pump. If the coolant is not circulating properly you will have a heating problem. Sometimes even a new thermostat can stick and cause the engine to overheat. I have seen them fail in as little as a week after they were installed.

Radiator under too much pressure?


It might of just been a defective hose because if the pressure gets to high, the radiator cap will relieve the pressure when it reaches the pressure stamped on the cap.

Overheating after driving about 15 miles

THERMOSTAT - 2.7L
REMOVAL
Disconnect negative cable from remote jumper terminal
WARNING: DO NOT REMOVE PRESSURE CAP WITH THE SYSTEM HOT AND UNDER PRESSURE BECAUSE SERIOUS BURNS FROM COOLANT CAN OCCUR.

Drain cooling system.
Remove accessory drive belt for removal of the generator.
Raise vehicle on hoist.
Remove generator attaching bolts. Set generator aside for ease of access to thermostat.
Remove lower radiator and heater hoses from thermostat housing.
Remove thermostat housing bolts Thermostat and Housing - 2.7L Engine
Remove thermostat and housing.
INSTALLATION
Clean gasket sealing surfaces
NOTE: Install thermostat with the bleed valve located at the 12 o'clock position.

Install thermostat and gasket into the thermostat housing.
Install thermostat and housing to cylinder block. Tighten attaching bolts to 12 N·m (105 in. lbs.) Thermostat and Housing - 2.7L Engine
Connect heater and lower radiator hoses. Install hose clamps.
Install generator and attaching bolts.
Lower vehicle.
Install accessory drive belt. Refer to procedure outlined in this section.
Refill cooling system. Refer to Cooling System Refilling.
Connect negative cable to remote jumper terminal.
