The temp sensor for the gauge and for the computer should both be near the water outlet for the upper radiator hose.
They have different wiring harness plugs.

Sounds like some fuses need to be replaced. Also the sensors on these newer vehicles go come on for no reason. Try to have the sensors replaced or reset.

Help needed to figure out why truck says it over heating

you might want to check the wires going to the temperature sensor on the engine make sure it hasnt rubbed the protective coating off, this can give you a false reading, the safest way is to put a manual gauge in place of the temperature sensor and run engine to make sure the engine is not overheating. You can pick up a cheap manual temp gauge at your local parts store and install the temperature probe into the hole where the temp sensor was located and run the engine. It sounds like you have a guage malfunction. But is better to be safe than sorry.

2002 sierra V6. My truck wont start after a few days of being off. Battery is new but it's dies trying to crank it on. This has happened before and it would eventually turn on but it hasn't this time.. Any...

The battery cables are dirty at the battery.
Disconnect each cable and clean the cable clamps and battery posts.
The dirty stuff gets hot when you crank the engine or drive. This increases the electrical resistance and not enough juice to crank starter.

IS IT THE WATER TEMP SENSOR THAT CONNECTS TO THE TEMP GAUGE? WHERE IS THE SENSOR LOCATED ON A 2003 GMC SIERRA 4.8 LTR ENGINE?

On the intake manifold, toward the front. It's got 2 wires to it. That's the one for the cpu & the other has one wire & is usually in the driver's side head. That controls the temp guage.
