Question about 2007 BMW X3 3.0i
The neighbor who helped me, connected the cables backwards, then corrected it. I started the car waited for the battery to charge. When I drove the car, that's when the symbol with the engine came on and the shaking and rattling started. Should I disconnect and reconnect the battery? Is there some sort of reset I need to do?
I would say go to autozone have the faults cleared. And battery tested, sounds like the vanos solenoid was the culprite not the battery let me know

The orange light is probably the pads wear indicator showing that the pads are worn out and the cutting out probably you need your car serviced and tune.

The check engine light is a warning to let you know something needs your attention to be repaired I would try getting a jump. Could be a bad battery. Lets get the battery charged and tested. Cold weather will stop your car from starting if you have a weak battery. You dont need to tow the car just take the battery to Autozone or Walmart to be charged and tested for cca...cold cranking amps

Welcome to the world of BMW's. return the car to the seller. you got a bad one. You got an electrical short draining the battery. Bring a blank check and sign it over to the dealer. They're going to have to run through the entire electrical system to find the short. That work alone is worth more than the a used up 2001 325i.
