Question about Cars & Trucks
The Starter Motor on my Renault 9 GTL just spins but doesnt actually make contact with the in engine part its supposed to. Sometimes it will but most of the time it wont i have owned other standard Renault 9's in the past and all i had to do with them was put a few spacers on the starter but in this case that doesn't seem to work and im really hoping i dont have to drop the engine and split the box to sort this one out.
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.

Starter drive spinning but not shooting out into flywheel for turning engine over. If you remove it & grease up the shaft of the starter that it slides on & keep working it on the bench, you may save some money. Once you have it lubed & working good one bench, put it back in & give it a try. Take a look at gear teeth for damage while it's on the bench as well.

SOURCE: starter motor removal
Dissconnect the battery .the starter is located on the gearbox facing into the flywheel. you need to remove any connectors that are on the back of the starter then take the bolts out that hold it on give it a little shake and it should come out.
