SOURCE: I was told I have

Well sometimes.... the front crankshaft seal is usually called a crank seal, or the front timing cover seal but the rear crank seal is (usually) called the Rear Main crank seal. In order to replace the rear seal , the transmission will need to be removed. If its the front, then the harmonic balancer will be removed. $380 sounds cheap. As you will need a oil seal, oil pan gasket, oil, filter, labor and tax. Maybe even a lower engine mount.

SOURCE: 1990 volvo 240 front oil leak cam and crankshaft

It is not a solution, but as long as there is oil in there, you are good. Just make sure you keep a good eye on it, just in case it gets work. Best wishes. If you need anything, let me know Bob. I am always here.

How to replace camshaft seal and pvc system on a 2000 volvo v40? What would be a reasonable price to pay for repairs?

If that is the T5 Engine you are going to need a Special set of Tools that hold the Cams, Sprockets and Crankshaft before starting on the seals if you are going to separate the Cam Cover from the Cyl. Head. I have done it with out the Tools but I do not recommend it. The PCV System you will have to pull the Injector Rail and the Intake Manifold to get to it.

Just replaced the starter and flex plate in my volvo s80 engine was running fine before repair now it starts, idles rough and then stalls out. put on a new mass air flow sencor what could be wrong?

were the bolts holes on the flexi plate in an of set pattern?
if not you could have set the plate in wrong position which would
cause timing signal to be out of sync with crankshaft

1999 cross country v70 awd crankshaft seal replacement

Your info is confusing. The rear cam seal is not inside the timing belt cover, and the crank seal is at the bottom of the engine, while the cam seal is at the top.

Is there oil at the top, around the cam seal? Or just at the bottom? It's common for the oil pump seal to leak. If you get the oil pump reseal kit, it contains the oil pump seal and gasket, as well as the crankshaft seal. Make sure you seal the oil pump bolts, Volvo has special copper washers for this purpose.

Just try to locate the oil leak before replacing any more parts. Sometimes it can be something simple like the oil cap seal or the oil trap housing.
