Question about 1999 Buick LeSabre

2 Answers

My 1996 buick lesabre thumps when accelerating over around 50 mph, usually when entering the freeway. Already replaced all 3 coil packs, fuel, oil and air filters. Is it worth it to replace the spark

I'm almost sure its not a direct trans problem since the acceleration from 0-40mph is smooth and easy.

I would want to know where the noise is coming from first.
If you had a cylinder not firing, you should get a check engine light with a trouble code stored in the computer.
It could be something hitting the exhaust pipes, a weak motor mount, or any number of other things.
Does it feel like it involves the fact you are at that speed, or the fact the engine is working very hard ?

the thump can be heard and felt, coming from the front of the car. My check engine light hasn't come on. I think it has to due with then engine being under more pressure, but only at higher speeds. it has never happend under 40mph, but it has happened when going up hill over 40 mph

Replaced ignition control module on 1994 buick lesabre, now it will start, but runs crappy also replaced crank sensor, cam sensor, all 3 coil packs, spaek plugs, and front 3 wires

check fuel pressure are fuel rail? Should be 40-47 psi. Also check filter at rear frame rail near RR tire, pull vacuum line off fuel pressure regulator at intake mainfold. Should have vac. and be dry, no gas at fitting.

Sounds like low fuel pressure. i.e. fuel pump, fuel pressure regulator, or fuel filter.

1998 Buick Lesabre How do you test the coil packs?

the coils are one integrated block with 3 separate segments. the coil pack is mounted to the ignition module and can be unbolted from each other. one can test the coils from the underside of the coilpack with a dvom. having said that your car should still start if one paired coil fails, it would however miss on one or two cylinders. I would suggest to scan for codes, monitor live sensor data to see if you have a valid crank signal, check fuel pressure and spark voltage

1993 Buick LeSabre is missing at 50 to 60 mph

I think the fuel filter may be starting to plug up, also change the plugs and plug wires, they are due at 100,000 miles.
