It could have a spring broken allowing the brake shoe to bind up. If it is rear disc brake, the piston in the caliper is stuck.

SOURCE: Rear Axle Bearing

i know for a fact that the bearing comes with the hub., and if the old bearing is badly damage you may need to heat it to remove it from the axel...so this may be a rather big job if your not equipt

SOURCE: I Think I have a front wheel bearing problem

Check wheel bering for play if there is no play , it doesn't mean that bearing is NOT bad its can still be dry and would be making that grinding sound you described Also check axle and see if boot is broken. That may be your problem also make sure that rotors are not gouged/scraped up and pads are good.Contact if you need more help and thanks for using FIX YA

SOURCE: right rear wheel

have a 1996 Neon with the same problem I am currently working on. It did the same thing to me 6 months ago. At that time I changed the brake shoes and the wheel cylinder. Now the problem is back. Pads are still good. I think the problem may be a combination of 2 things. A large lip on the inboard side of the drum and the drum is out of round. The lip is bumping the pads enough to allow the pads to catch and jamb as the smaller diameter of the drum comes around. There is also one area on the inside of the drum that you can see has been hot and left a heat discoloration or scorch mark about 4 inches long. I will see if the drum can be turned. If not I will just replace it. This problem only occurs on wet or slippery pavement at slow speeds. At fast speeds it creates the scorch mark on the inside of the drum.

SOURCE: right rear wheel locking up

okay you had brake work done!!! "THINKING" that was the problem originally right rear wheel locking up! okay,,, so doing brakes has not solved your problem! I would maybe look into rear end bearing??? do you have any load road noise from rear and do you have rear end fluid in differential? question to you was the baking plate ""WET"" looked damp? or moister get at it!??? seal might have leaked all fluid out??? all the above would be good place to start! good luck I hope this info helps you out.Happy new year.

2006 Dodge Grand Caravan has been sitting for a couple of weeks, rear left wheel will not turn.

It seems like the hand brake is stuck on. when a vehicles is left for a long time it is best to leave to hand break off and leave in gear or chock the wheels. if the handbrake locks up the lever will go down but the mechanism is still on the back wheels. Try hitting the wheel with a block of wood or a rubber hammer to losen it off. ensure you do not damage the brake lines or other parts of the vehicle, then try driving slowly backwards then forwards to see if it comes free.

I hope this was useful.

How do you disable the slip sensor or electronic stability control on a 1999 nissan cedric y34?

A speed sensor in the rear differential is bad, resulting in engagement of traction lock mode. Have the diff. serviced with friction modifier additive. Damage to traction lock friction plates can occur if not serviced soon (expensive)

Rear on a2004 astro van awd v-6 locks up when making turn's left or right.but does'nt do it when gowing forward or reverse.

Rear end is a lockup dif. This couples both wheels. It has clutches that allow inner and outer weels to turn at different speeds when going around corner, thus eliminating most tire scrub. If noise is coming from dif. change dif oil and redress clutches.Driving in a straight line with a lockup dif. would not normally be noticed, because both rear wheels are travelling at the same speed.

Hello, with all 4 wheels off the ground, engine running and in gear only 3 wheels are turning. The right front does not. is this normal?

Unless you have a positraction rear differential, I'm surprised that even three are turning! Four wheel drive is really two wheel drive because both differentials are "open" type. In an open diff, only one wheel has power at any given time. With a positraction, or "limited slip" rear diff, both rear wheels push with fairly even force but the outer wheel is allowed to slip when going around turns. Only true four wheelers have either a limited slip on both ends or "locked" units but it is impossible or really difficult to drive anything like that on the street. If you hold the left front wheel from turning unless the locking unit is broken, the right front should turn.

I have re/re the rear brake cylinders, shoes, drums, front rotors, pads, and callipers on my 2000 gmc safari van.i have bled all the brakes. but the drivers front has no pressure or fluid.the other three brakes...

make sure you are bleeding them by doing them as an abs system,do the right rear then the left front, then the left rear then the right front, the opposite wheels are how the system brakes.

Rear wheel

does the van shake or vibrate? does the van have tires on it ?start by switching the left rear with the right rear test drive and listen for soun if no sound then the tire has a bad steel belt replace tire if the sound is still present. jack up van and spin tire if no sound is heard replace wheel bearing and if there is still a sound look into brake drum for possible springs or clips that may have fallen into drum causing noise but i would say its more than likely the rear wheel bearing to change that u must buy a new bearing and follow instructions on replacing good
