Question about 1988 GMC S-15
I was told the fuel pump was bad. i changed it. when it warms up to temp, and you shut it off, then it will not start back up. like it is starved for fuel
Did you check the fuel pressure before you replaced the pump ?
Can you spray carb cleaner or starting fluid into the throttle body and make the engine want to start ?
If it is throttle body injected, can you see the fuel spray when you crank it hot ?

SOURCE: fuel pump
Fuel Pump on this Vehicle is on the inside of the gas tank it is a not so hard job to do if you have done quite a bit of mechanical work, but if not you best get someone who does have the experience since we are talking with dealing directly with the tank that even when empty it can explode with a spark from a tool striking ant metal.
But if You are that person that knows how to tinker with automobiles I Strongly suggest to go to your local auto parts store and get the book in order to follow the instructions safely, trust me I have done 2 chevy astros and a thunderbird. Good Luck.

REplace the fuel filter, then check for vaccum leakes around the intake. My guess is the carb it close to falling off! LOL Frankster016
