Fuel oil number 1 is generally the same as kerosene, and number 2 is generally the same as home heating oil. Fuel for a diesel car or truck is a combo of both. More kerosene in the winter months.

Can I use 50/50 engine oil in my W reg Ford Focus

You should only use the oil recommended for your vehicle as shown in the manual - and sometimes printed on the oil filler cap of the engine. Thinner oils (lower numbers) are usually used in cold weather and thicker oils (higher numbers) in hot weather.

Car engine oil has a weight value. 5W, 10W, 25W and so on. The higher the W number the thicker the oil. When the oil is cold it's hard to pour, but heat it up and it will pour very easily. In the summer time you should use a higher W number because it will not take the engine long to heat up the oil. If you live in an area of extreme cold, then use a lower W number. Cold heavy weight oil is too thick and will make the oil pump work harder, which in turn causes it to be unable to supply oil to the engine and it's working components quickly enough.

Of course the lower the weight the weaker the oil. Before making a choice, call your local auto parts dealership to compare weather to your brand of car. If you own a high powered racing machine, like a Mustang GT, or a heavy weight truck, a low weight oil may not be right for your engine's needs.

What is the difference between 10w30 and 5w30 motor oil?

The first number is the weight of the oil at 32 degrees and the second number is at 80 or 100 degrees.
The lower the number the thinner the oil.

This is a repeat question about the engine noise.
It should be stamped on the oil filler cap - I would say 10w30 is what was recommended when the truck was new.
The first number is the weight when the oil is cold, and the second number is the weight when the oil is hot.
So when you are talking about temps above freezing the first number would not matter much.

I have a 2011 Chev. Equinox. engine, 3.0L DOHC, V6 SIDI engine. I change my own oil. What Brand and type of oil should I use and what brand and number oil filter should I buy.

If you change your own oil you may void your warranty. The dealer uses Chevron oil and an AC Delco oil filter. Fram is a good oil filter too and the delco you would have to get from the dealer. The fram oil filter part number is PH10060 and oil wise anything is good except Pennzoil. If you choose to run synthetic oil though dont go back to conventional oil.

What kind of Mobile 1 motor OIL in a 2008 XC70

Most synthetic oils run far below the first number and far above the second number when tested. The numbers on the container reflect the mid-range of performance.
To decide which oil to use or specifically which grade of oil to use, I'd suggest you google noyac volatility tests...the charts there show performance ratings of several oils and several test methods that might be interesting to you.
