Most of these brake in the process but try warming the car up then loosening it. The rubber o ring seizes up and makes it hard as heck to remove. Be prepared for it to brake though. Not a biggie. Happens alot. You may have to use big channel locks to get it off.

Where is the radiator cap to add stop leak

Lift the hood. In the upper right hand corner is the overflow fill tank. If you want to put it in fast reach down the right side of the radiator(when it's cool) unscrew the small plastic petcock and drain a gallon or two of antifreeze into clean pan. Replace petcock. Open the cap on tank and add stop leak. Fill back up with antifreeze. Now would be a good time to change it. Go to Napa and buy the original antifreeze the car came with Zerex G5. Mix 50/50 with distilled water.Fill to just above cold line and start engine keep adding mixture till it won't go down any more. Replace cap and watch level for two or three days of driving add mixture after engine is cold12_2_2011_3_42_50_pm.gif

2001 chevy cavalier, was overheating and took out thermostat, let it idle then was not over heating, bought new thermostat put it in then overheated what do i do?

Physically look in the radiator under the cap(if one exsist's) when cool, for coolant level, and check the valve in the cap for sticking. If air is present in the radiator it can't get out, and more coolant can't get in,(from the overflow). Either clean the cap or replace it and check that it is the CORRECT cap.

If radiator is low on coolant fill it to overflowing, replace cap, and check that coolant overflow is filled to the COLD line or mark. The overflow is normally where you would add coolant. (never overfill the overflow)After refilling as outlined above, check the level every morning for 2 or 3 days until coolant level stops dropping below the cold mark and add coolant to the overflow ONLY. Do not open the radiator cap. Also, if you have even a tiny coolant leak anywhere in the system, air will get drawn in, instead of coolant from the overflow.

For more OVERHEATING PROBLEMS try these...
Radiator fins dirty, clean with a strong stream of water, not high pressure water.
Radiator clogged, try backflushing it, or replace.
Thermostat stuck open or shut, replace it.
Water pump worn out, can no longer move enough coolant, replace it.
Fan shroud broken or missing....
Electric Fan(s) not working, Check the fan, relay, fuse and engine temperature sensor's.
Belt driven fan, belt slipping, fan clutch is bad, fan blades have flattened out.

Air dam under front bumper is gone, loose, or broken. It actually has a purpose other than scraping on the driveway or curbs. It forces air up into and thru the condenser and radiator. If it's loose, airflow can actually push it out of place making it useless or blocking the airflow. Along with that, there may also be a plastic piece attached to the bottom of, and wraps up behind the bumper. If it

I have an 85 Toyota pick up efi and I put a new fuel pump in and I cant put the gas cap on tight or it builds pressure and with it off it leaks gas out the overflow in the engine compartment?

Either the Gas Cap is shot or the tank vent is clogged. First thing i would recommend would be to try swapping the gas cap for one from another car (without the same problem).
The Gas Cap should be a vented style cap, but if it quits it can build up pressure inside the tank. If swapping the cap doesn't stop the pressure, than the vent is clogged, it's on top of the tank

I cant find the raditor cap on a 2006 pontac torrent

Lots of the newer cars don't have a cap on the radiator. You can only add coolant through the overflow tank. It is the big plastic tank on the side and it should have markings for minimum and maximum fill lines.

My check engine light is on for my 2005 mini cooper s...what could b the problem? oil change 3400km just the other day the yellow light with the triangle that has an exclamation mark in the middle and a...

The "Check Engine Light" could be something major, or something as minor as a loose
gasoline filler cap. The only way to know is to find someone who can attach an OBD-II code reader
to your car's ODB-II computer port and talk to your car's on-board computer, and ask it what it thinks
is wrong.
Also, the "Yellow light with the triangle that has an exclamation mark in the middle and a circle going around" could be the SES light (Service Engine Soon), which could mean that everything is fine with the car, except the SES light needed to be reset at the 3400Km oil change, but it wasn't.
In the U.S., Pep Boys and Advance Auto Parts are national parts store chains that will read the ODB-II codes setting your "Check Engine" light free - don't know who will do this free in Canada/U.K., though.
