'94 should have a Optispark I, unless someone upgraded to a II.  Would have to change front cover also to do this.
92-94 is version I 95-96 is version II

R&r 5.7 distripter in 1996 camaro

Replacing the Optispark Distributor is a real pain in this year and the LT1 engine.
Here are the steps
Remove accessory drive belt
Remove air intake hose to engine
Remove Radiator fans (unplug wiring harness first)
Drain the cooling system
Remove water pump (unplug water temp sensor first, tie hoses back out the way)
Remove Crankshaft balancer (you can get around the hub).
Remove Optispark cap and the rotor, the remove the bolts that hold the distributor to the block

Reverse to assemble.

I need to replace a distributor in my 94 z28 Camaro, was told it was going to cost $1100 because I HAD to have an AC Delco distributor since it is a high performance engine and will not run right using...

drsinister69 Is an idiot if u dont know nothing about camaros dont post. The opti spark is behind the water pump but they are sealed that way they do not get moisture in it at all. but if the plug in is not all the way in it could get water inside. to change this out all u have to do. Is take off the fans, take off the balancer pulley, take off water pump, then use a 10mm socket and take off the distributor but make sure it is up on number 1 to get it in time or it wont start

There is no spark in the cables,it crancks but no spark.its for a 1995 v8 z28

u need to check ur distributor rotor and possibly the cap....if it has a coil pack (instead of a distributor) u'll have to replace it (it usually costs 45-100 dollars if thats the problem)

How do you change the fuel pump on a 94 camaro

this one isnt the funnest ...fuel tank must be removed which requires dropping rear end diff. and exhaust far enough to access tank. most helpfull if fuel tank is low or out of gas....even with this, lifting car and jacks required.

1996 Camaro won't start

My 94 z28 Camaro misfires whne shes hot, I got her on a diagnostic and they told me that the distributor {optispark unit} was reading faulty and that I needed to replace this before they could go further $1100 quoted, ye right, I bought one for new at $169, they quoted me $400 just for the unit, anyway, I havent installed it yet, Found out that backfiring could also be a module, well I have the dizzy now so I may as well get the module as well. Will let you know. I went to start my car today, it started briefly then died, I thought the dizzy had completely died. Checked fuses and connectors, It cranked over but wouldn't fire. Decided to surf for info on the net. 1 hour later I went back out and tried again, It fired up and ran, Must have had a gremlin, all seems to be back where it was now, Summary, go make some lunch and come back to it, nothing to lose except some time. {If still fails, check Air flow sensor, may be clogged}
