Try changing oil brands. If you want some good info on oil burnoff rates etc google noac volatility tests.I could explain it here but it would take an hour.

SOURCE: 2006 Chrysler Minivan - oil consumption - time is running out

I do not believe there is a fix by Chrysler. My van has 50000 and seems oil consumption is getting worse. It is either past the valve seals or the piston oil control ring. I believe Chrysler KNOWS ALL ABOUT THIS! If you google search this there are to many complaints! 1 quart every 3 thousand miles is not exceptable unless you are driving a model T!

My manual says to use 5w-20. I have a 2006 chrysler 300 v6 2.7. Which brand is best and would using a synthetic be better or worse?

any brand of oil is ok but you have to do the oil change every 3k miles or under
this motor will go bad if you don't do the oil change
synthetic will be better and cost more but you still have to do the oil change every 3k

go only and search chrysler or dodge 2.7 engines

Lifter ticking

You may have a dirty lifter with varnish buildup. Try this as it may very well solve the problem. Purchase a can of Seafoam Motor Treatment. Add 1.5 oz of Seafoam for each quart of oil capacity. 4.5 Quarts = 6.75 oz Seafoam. Drive the car until you no longer hear the lifter and then have the oil/filter changed again. Next oil change use a quality filter such as Wix, Mopar, or Purolator. You can purchase Seafoam at almost any auto parts or marine store and at some Walmart stores. Here is their website. http://www.seafoamsales.com/
