Question about 1994 Cadillac DeVille

1 Answer

Hello, My 1992 Cadillac Seville has not been blowing heat for about one week. We replaced the thermostat and that did not work. Yesterday my car became really sluggish and started to overheat. The temperature was 260 degrees. I turned the car off and let it cool. We replaced the water pump today and the car still has no heat and the temperature is going up to 250 and then the fan turns on and it goes down to 200 again. PLEASE HELP!

Help is HERE!
It looks like an Air lock scenario!
Park vehicle on level ground, when cold remove coolant filler cap, start engine and leave to idle, turn heater to hot blower on full. When at operating temp keep clear of coolant filler area and listen, hopefully gurgling then a boil over, wait and then top up with very warm water/coolant let settle it may boil over again whilst air is still in system.
Check for heat inside car, if hot and coolant settled replace cap but keep an eye on temp gauge for a while as air lock may still be further along cooling system.
Please press the Blue button if sorted!

Heater not working in 92 Cadillac Seville

Gosh, where do you live? It must be a pretty mild climate. Here in Montana I would have parked the Seville until I saved up the funds to have that '92 state of the art heater control system looked at-like tomorrow's tomorrow. Being it has been on the road for 20 years now, the control unit may need replacing. Only someone familiar with Cadillac controls would know all the ins and outs of the system. Try and get an estimate on repairs from a reputable shop.

Hello. Get a jump or recharge the battery and then drive it to a garage and have the charging system checked. Also, make sure the connectors are free of corrosion. If in doubt, clean up the contacts with some emory cloth. J.

Heat not working.It's blowing cool

Sounds like your thermostat is stuck open. The only way to check it is to pull it out. Since you are going through the trouble you just as well replace it. Goodluck
