SOURCE: mitsubishi eclipse convertiable timing belt change?

Typical timing belt intervals are every 60k miles. It's a very involved service to do the whole job - timing belt, timing belt tensioner, serpentine or accessory belts, water pump, thermostat, spark plugs, all fluids, all filters, brake and suspension inspection, and tire rotation. On many cars it's recommended to change the oxygen sensors as well. Quite a bit of this can be done when you want, but the first five items are critical and should all be done. And regardless of whether your manufacturer says the coolant is "lifetime", replace it - don't reuse coolant. It's cheap and it's good practice to use new coolant.

SOURCE: Changing the front speaker 2001 Eclipse Spyder

There are 7 screws all together to remove the door pannel. First, you have to take off the hanlde for the door. the 2 plastic covers on the handle pop off revealing 2 screws on the top and bottom, remove those. then behind the the door handle on the inside, pull it as if you were to open it and there is a screw that you have to remove. Then there are 2 screws on either side of the door pannel, both are farily close to the top, remove those, and then its just a matter of popping the pannel off. start from the bottom, pop it off then slide it up. becarefull, after the door panel is free, there is a connection for the power doors and windows unhook that then the pannel will be free. after that the speaker will be right there and its common sense on removing that. good luck.

How to locate a thermostat for a 94 eclipse

You didn't say which engine, but if you have the 3.0 L engine then the thermostat is in a bulb looking connection where a water hose comes up from below to the front of the engine.

Just remove the bulb-like tharmostat holder from the engine. You don't have to remove the hose.

I'll check the other engine.

A garage said it would cost $500.00 to replace the t-stat do you know why?

I'll do it for $250.00!!!! The thermostat is less than $20....and to replentish the radiator fluid....less than $20.00

It is pretty simply except for the mess of the radiator fluid....here is all the steps to do it yourself:

Removal & Installation
  1. Drain the cooling system.
  2. Remove the air intake system.
  3. Disconnect the lower radiator hose. Matchmark the hose clamps before removing to ensure proper installation.
  4. Unbolt the thermostat housing and remove the thermostat.
To install:
  1. Install the thermostat so that the jiggle valve is facing straight up and is aligned with the mark on the thermostat case as shown in the accompanying figure.

NOTE Make sure that no oil sticks to the rubber ring of the thermostat. Also, make sure not to fold or scratch the ring when inserting the thermostat.

  2. Position the water inlet or outlet fitting, then secure using the retaining bolt(s). For 2.4L engines, tighten the bolt to 109 inch lbs. (13 Nm). Tighten the bolts to 13 ft. lbs. (19 Nm) for 3.0L engines.
  3. Insert the radiator upper or lower hose as far as the projection of the water outlet or inlet fitting.
  4. Align the mating marks on the radiator hose and hose clamp, then connect the radiator hose.
  5. Install the air intake system.
  6. Refill the cooling system to the correct level.
  7. Start the engine and check for leaks.

Follow the lower radiator hose back to the engine. Where it attaches is where the thermostat housing is.

Sounds like you need to change the thermostat. Usually the housing for the thermostat is where the upper radiator hose attaches to the engine be it a v6 or 4.

Water on floor

they drain inbetween the bulkhead of your car. no access is available to get to that. if the evaporator case is totally removed you can run a new hose for it although they are usually short in most cases for the bulkhead is totally sealed watertight
