My 94 Pontiac Grand AM will die while driving. It sometimes takes an hour to start again. Fuel filter has been changed. Please help.

Check the wire harness to the Ignition Module Control (ICM) and the ICM. A faulty ICM after it heats up will cause it to stop working, in turn causing the engine not to have any fire to the spark plugs. Good luck and keep me posted, be glad to help you get your car running 100% again soon.

I have smoke coming from trunk, and found a hot area with melted and charred plastic around the outer "rim" of the spare tire compartment

you need to have the exhaust system checked, either someone removed the heat shield that protects the trunk from the heat of the muffler,or they have the muffler too close to the trunk panel, but do it soon!

1st, the fuse location is marked, what is the 20 Amp fuse for? 2nd, did the smoke have a nauseating sweet smell to it? If it smells like described it is the heater core leaking, coolant steam looks like smoke.

i think you may have warped the heads which will cause it to continue to over heat.if its blowing any kind of smoke out of the tail pipe you may havelost your head gasket as well
