Question about 1997 Mitsubishi Mirage
I change the spark plug because it started to miss out and the first 3 was white and the last one was black. that didnt help the problem after changing them i made sure the wires where on good while it was running and when i touch the last wire i got bit pretty good. i went to autozone and was asking them what might be the problem and they said it was in my fuel system so i brought some lucas gas treatment and but in the gas tank and the next day it started to run worst with the popping and hard to start what should i try next
Its possible that last injector is the problem.
Someone will need to check out the fuel system - check fuel pressure and the injectors among other things.
I am assuming the check engine light is not on.
I'm also assuming the timing belt, distributor cap, rotor, and plug wires are in good condition.

The po301 is a misfire code. The backfire can be caused by a excessive amount of fuel, bad valve timing etc.
My guess is you have damage to an exhaust valve that may have occurred when you had the timing belt problem.A compression test will indicate if you have a leaking exhaust valve. The reason for the backfire is the exhaust valve is still partially open when the spark plug fires.

Hi, you need to ground pin 1 of diagnostic pin, turn the engine to on and watch check engine light. It will flash a code (long long short short short = 23). The code will tell where the problem may be.
