Crossed up cables while jumping car cables started to smoke switch cables on battery to the right way car started.. but now now car will not go more than a 1000 rpms, when I give it gas nothing happens...

I would start by checking all of the fuses in your car. You have one fuse box under your steering wheel and one inside the engine compartment. You could have blown a fuse controlling the computer related to the acceleration or transmission system.

If the battery was hooked up backwards, you may have blown a major fuse.

Check the fuses, it will be a 40amp or 60amp, they are most likely under the hood in the fuse box, follow the possitive battery cable to the elecrtical box, replace blown fuse.

Not getting power no lights wont start nothing

you must op popped the maind fuse. follow the posive baterry cable. somewhere between the end and the fuses that do not have power is a bigger fuse that popped.. Being this old of a truck I have not location information but it should be pretty east to find. Its also possible this uses a fusible link wire.

Car wouldn't crank but can be jumped off and had power. Cleaned the corrision off the cables and it would do fine. Couple of days later do it again. I got stranded in it at store and got jumped off....

Yu don't say which fuse has blown. It seems the battery was the original problem, but you may have "grounded" something in replacing the battery, or you may have accidently reversed the cables (polarity). Check all is well with the battery installation, replace the fuse (with the same vaue) and test if you still have the starting problem. If yes, I would get the starter motor checked out. It may be drawing excessive current whilst cranking.
