Question about 2005 Ford Taurus

1 Answer

I have a 2005 Ford Taurus SE and the key doesn't work now. I put the key in the ignition and try to start it but it doesn't crank. All the lights come on on the dash but it doesn't start. I put my new key in the ignition and start it and the car starts. For me to use the key that doesn't work I have a Remote Starter System so what I do is start it through the Remote and then I put the key in and then I can go. At the time I am using the key that works. Just to let you know I do have a Aftermarket Remote Starter System and the Stock Ford Alarm System. If you need any other information just let me know. Thank you.

Ok. I just went out to the car and I put the key that doesn't work in
the ignition to the ON position and the theft light flashes. I took
that key out and put the one that works in to the ON position and the
theft light stays on for a second and then goes out. Could that key
have been "locked out" of the system. Let me know A.S.A.P.

The chip in the key has gone bad . this can happen real easy .....at the checkout counter in most stores there is a device under the counter that when you buy something the checker drags it across to deactavate a small chip so you can leave the store ....... this device can KILL THE CHIP IN YOUR KEY so keep keys clear of it ......this key must be replaced it cannot be reprogramed

My 94 Taurus will not turn over. Lights work...I replaced starter then ignition switch. Car will not turn over. It has a history of intermittent starting problems. It may or may not start. Now it...

They have a bad ignition problem. Its more than likely the ignition. Turn the key on, Then right below the ignition theres a hole. take a long skinny phillips screw driver and push it up through the hole and you will hit a release for the ignition. Push it up as you pull the ignition out. Then try to start the car with a flat head screwdriver. Write back if that doesn't work but i have a feeling it will.

I have a 2005 Taurus SE. For the last few months now on a cold start, I must turn the key on but not thru to start until the bells and buzzers quit, then turn it to start; other wise it will just crank...

this is just a sugestion and in no way meant to answer your problem, but this sounds suspiciously like the the problems that used to occur with the neutral saftey switches on the older taurus.

Key Does Not Work

It could be that chip inside key just went bad. Do u have a 3rd key? That works? If so take the 2 good keys and turn the igntion to run postion for 3 secs each then do the same for the 3rd key and this will reprogram it if the chip is ok. If you do not have 2 good keys then u will have to have a scan tool that will link up with PATS system and perform security access to reprogram it.

Key Does not Work.

Ok, If it is the Factory Key, It should have the Plastic Finger grip at the Top. This Finger Grip has a Transponder Chip inside that Tells the Ignition that the Key is the Correct Key for this car, Go ahead and Start. These Transponders do Stop working Sometimes. If you will take the Key to the Dealer they can Reprogram the Key to work for you. But, It has to be the Factory key for this. If you have had a Key made, The key will not have the Chip inside it and will only work on the Doors. Please Rate my Response, I need all the Help That I can Get! Thanks!

2005 ford taurus. Remote entry wont work theft light keeps blinking when key is engaged

HI, I'm reading your problem,
Let me explain something about your car.

2005 Ford Taurus, The key on that car has Chip inside of the key and receiver on the ignition switch,
Check if the key you are trying to use is Black and has a plastic head.
If not you need a key with that characteristics.
But if you have the right key, Remenber if you had drop on the floor, or hit with something,
Because some times they come damaged, with insignificat thins.
Remenber if you left the key close to a magnets like speakers.

If nothing aply at your case, you need to call a place Aloha Smith, they have the computer to program or reprogarm your key. IF not you can't start your car.

OK.. I hope this information work for you.

Thank's for submit yous question on fixya.com
