Question about 1998 Dodge Neon

Battery Light Hi, i have a '99 dodge neon r/t, and whatever i do, i am unable to get the battery light and the check engine light to turn off, the engine light reads codes 12 ad 45 - i thought it was something to do with the ground, because it was having a starting problem as well, and when you pulled really ******* the ground wire, the car would start. SO, i replaced both wires that attach to the negative battery terminal, the ground that attached to the body above the rad and the one that attached to a bolt on the tranny. I also nticed the connecter on the started wire, that goes from the positive battery terminal to the started, so i replaced that whole wire as well. The battery light was off for a while, then i hit a bump and it came back on again. I have a brand new battery in my car, new started and the alternator has been tested. I just dont understant what else could be causing it. HELP!! 1998 dodge neon battery light comes on and off at times but just recently, car engine lost power and at iddle engine almost shouts off. Driving is slow and acts like if transmission does not engage? Some one told me it could be the alternator belt? Battery light goes off and car runs ok but is getting worst and it does it more often. Any ideas? Thank you

It should be the v belt that connects the alternator i had the same blinking battery issue to i went to buy a new battery, no until the next morning that i found out the alternator belt was missing,so i changed both v belts and that fixed my problem

Hi its me again. 2005 Dodge neon sxt. Auto tranny, put key in, turned it, started to crank for split second, all electrical went completely dead, no dome light, no head light, no dash light. battery was...

Ok, even if the battery is new, get a voltmeter and measure the battery, if its below 12v, thats the problem. That way you completely eliminate all these factors without a doubt. Also check negative wire from battery to the ground box and connections. It sounds more like a corroded terminal.

How do I reset service soon light on a 1998 dodge neon

First see what code is in the computer.Cycle the key three times and stop when it in the run position. The check engine light will start blinking. The first code should blink once then pause, then two blinks. This is showing that it is in the diagnostic mode. read all codes the same way, untill it starts with 12 again. Write them down. Then remove the negative cable from your battery post, after one minute, replace neg. cable. The light should be off.If it comes on again, it has set a hard code. You must repair whatever the codes indicate. Get a list of trouble codes online at Google.

How to reset check engine light on 1997 dodge neon

Stop by an autozone/advance or napa auto parts store, and they will scan your car and tell you what trouble code turned on the light and clear it for you. I know at autozone it's a free service but I
believe most of the big chain parts stores have followed suit. Hope this helps.

How old is the battery? Clean the connections, charge the battery. Try starting it. Get the battery tested at Autozone or some place like that.

I have a 2005 dodge neon won't start

have checked the starter, if it clicks, but no crank, that is a starter, if cranks, but does not turn on, that could be a bad battery. ( assuming you have gas )

My Dodge Neon will crank, but not start?

If you are asking about the battery light, there is a battery temperature sensor at the front of the battery tray to the right of the battery holddown hardware. If the snow loosened the wires or blocked the airflow to the sensor, the battery light will come on. The battery and alternator voltage can be correct, and the sensor will make the light come on.

96 dodge neon alternator and starter syop working

one thing to check is the positive and negative battery post's. check for any corrsion and even do a voltage test to the starter. check the grounds. The battery might be bad have you tryed to jump it? The battery light comes on when their is a dop in voltage in the sys.
