Question about 2008 Dodge Ram 3500

2 Answers

04 Dodge 3500 w/ 5.9 Cummins was starting fine. Now it take 5 to 8 tries. It sounds like it is going to start but then bogs down and dies. When it does finally start it idle low (@ 400 rpm) for 5 to 10 seconds, then goes to normal idle and runs fine untill you kill it. Then it starts all over.

I replaced it about 2500 miles ago, but not since this problem began.

When i start my mach 1 it runs fine when i use it for 5 to ten minets then when i go up a hill it bogs down and doesnt move and will die

Sounds like either your fuel pump and or fuel filter is bad. Change fuel filter first and try the hill. If it still bogs down sounds like fuel pump is almost ready to die. Get a pressure test run on fuel pump.

If above does not work then it maybe maybe your catalytic converter. Have it checked. Good luck

2006 dodge ram 3500, runs fine so long as I don't try to pass others; if engine tries to shift to 'passing' (low), it bogs down , almost stalling.

I would start by changing the fuel filter, they start clogging up and will cause this problem. its located on the frame rail under the drivers seat, under the truck

1997 dodge ram 3500, it shudders in OD

Hey, I also have a 98 ram with the cummins and what you are talking about is when you are pullin hard in overdrive the trans is working to hard causing the shudder, when this happens back off the throttle and get back on the throttle to allow the trans to downshift. If you dont it will break the overdrive gear. There is nothing wrong with the trans it is just that it is shifting to early and bogging down causing the shudder.

I have a 04 dodge 3500 auto 5.9 cummins turbo, where is the oil filter?

On the passenger side of the vehicle across form the battery box, in the front right side of the engine. The easiest way to get to it is to remove the intake tube from the air cleaner, on the right and down from the airbox.

it sounds as if maybe the transfer pump is going bad. chrysler has come out with a retro kit that moves the pump from the side of the engine and puts it in the tank
