Power steering pump still leaks after putting new one in.

I drive a 2001 Dodge Dakota 4.7 L 4x4 and I just recently put a new Power steering pump in because of a leak I was having. I just finished putting in the new on and it still leaks. And, everytime I turn the wheel the power steering fluid bubbles up and out of the resivoir. Should I get a new resivoir for it? Check the return line? I don't know please someone help me.

The bubbles are just air in the system, it will eventualy go away. are you sure the leak is from the pump or is it just comming out the cap because of the air. also did you chk. the pressure line? that maybe where your leak is. unless you got a crack in the resavor, its most likely the pressure line. there is a pressure line and a return line.

The oil light is warning the driver the engine has no oil pressure. That could be due to the engine oil level being low, or because of a problem with the oil pump.
is it possible you unplugged or damaged the oil pressure switch on the engine ?

Often times when I turn the wheel all the way weather left or right. and weather in forward or in reverse doesn't matter the truck kills. its a 2001 dodge dakota automatic.

on most power steering pumps there is a single wire idle up switch to compensate for load caused by pump switch is on pump check connection also try to find a clear parking lot drive in slow circle steer all the way see if engine dies while moving at slow speed will use less effort if engine doesnt die then check the p/s idle up switch

Dakota power steering leak

That's the power steering pressure switch and it is very easy to replace. I don't know how much the part is, but it cant be very much. It's a very simple switch. I'd just replace it.

Power steering

Make sure the fluid level is OK, if reservoir MT ad, with out the cap till air comes out and fluid gets in to system, turn the steering right to left wile You add fluid with cap off, till fluid is not longer going down and reservoir inside gets quiet, when fluid level is OK, put cap back and try it, if system did not recovered normality and loud noise comes from the pump, pump needs replacing, if steering is steel hard, no noise comes from pump, look a steering box or steering arms, if truck has Rakenpinon, look for broken boots, pit man arm

2001 Dodge Dakota

I'm assuming this truck has Power Steering. (my 2000 Dodge Dakota does) Because the power steering pump is causing a strain on the engine when you turn the steering wheel and it is also being strained by putting the truck in 4 wheel drive, A simple tune up might be in order. By tune up I mean spark plugs, spark plug wires, air cleaner, Distributor cap and rotor button. I would also check the timing on the engine and if possible change the fuel filter (The fuel filter is a real bear on this truck because it is in the fuel tank along with the fuel pump and sending unit)
