The fastest thing to do is to take one of the locks to a locksmith and have them make a key from it.This will save a lot of time and disassembly. If you still want to change all the locks, you will have to figure out how to remove the door trim panels, disassemble the steering colum, etc.(every vehicle is a little different, never worked on a Samurai myself)

How do can you roll start a 86 samurai

Engage two wheel drive. Switch on the ignition. Pull out the choke? Engage second gear and release the hand brake. Depress the clutch pedal and get the vehicle up to about 6-8 mph. Release the clutch and the engine should be turned by the rotation of the wheels - and hopefully start. Once the engine has caught, depress the clutch and keep the engine running in the normal manner.

If it has been lifted the Pitman arm needs to be adjusted to recenter the steering.

With the engine off, the trans in gear and the transfer case in 4 Hi or Low you should not be able to rotate the front drive shaft. If this is the case it sounds like a hub problem. Make sure the hubs are engaged. If so the hubs could be rusted and need cleaning to work freely.

Ignition switch 84 Ford F150 no key

Hi,
When you say you were able to remove it - does this mean the broken part of the key? if it was, then just take both pieces to a locksmith that cuts auto keys, and have a replacement cut. If it uses a transponder, make sure this is copied also.

With a working key, remove any plastic surround around the lock mechanism (put the steering wheel back on), and look at the lock mechanism around the actual lock. Turn the key to position 1. This should allow a small pin on the side of the lock body to be pressed in - releasing the lock cylinder, which will come out on the key when you pull it.

These are some makes where you have to drill to depress the catch, but this is a hands-on job for an auto locksmith.

Hope this helps.

Thanks for using Fixya.
