I too have the TRAC OFF, VSC OFF, ABS and BRAKE warning lights on most of the time. I took the Sequoia to one Toyota dealer who apparently did absolutely nothing other than to say no codes were set and recommend I replace the Skid Control ECU for over $2000. Being very concerned that these lights could actually mask a serious problem, today I took it to another Toyota dealer. With all the lights on and the engine running, the service manager removed and then checked the fuel cap for tightness first. I told him I had already added brake fluid to make sure the master cylinder reservoir level sensor was satisfied, and removed and cleaned the battery cables. He offered to read the codes for $100, but couldn't say if anything could be done to fix it without a new ECU computer. When I restarted the Sequoia, the lights were off as usual, BUT they did not come back on for many miles which was quite a difference. Since the Toyota dealer had done NOTHING other than remove the gas cap and replace it, I suspected something with the fuel tank/evap control system. I stopped the vehicle for a few minutes, and on restart all the lights came on simultaneously again as usual. I left it running, removed and replace the gas cap again and then shutdown and restarted the vehicle. LIGHTS all off, and remained OFF while driving several miles to home. I am now suspecting something with the fuel tank or evaporative control system. I found one mention of a bad charcoal canister on another site. Has anyone else found anything with the fuel system that would cause all 4 warning lights to come on simultaneously?

I did research on line and all indicates that is caused by the YAW RATE SENSOR. It nedds to be replace and adjust. I have the same problem but havent find the time to get to it. When I do I will post it. If you do it before I do please email me with the result at solrako@yahoo.com

Where is located ABS sensor?

the abs sensors( 4 of them ) are located at each wheel near the brake rotor or in the live axle housing close to the wheel
the trac control uses the same sensors and it only takes one faulty unit to put the lights on
the fault can be from a broken wire, wire fallen out of holder

I have a 2001 Sequoia replaced connectors to battery. Now E brake light ABS light Trac Off and VSC Trac light are on. I disconnected ground and let it sit. Had code ran and it said open closed circuit abs?...

More than likley its your VSC computer (VSC Trac, VSC Off, E brake and ABS brake lights all lit). This problem has been sited on other Sequoias that had the TSB brake caliper/rotor upgrade (recall) and that more than likely the VSC software or computer was not updated to meet the demands of the newly installed brake upgrade.

This is a common problem with the Sequoia only thing is you have to get the dealer to repair this because it takes special diagnostic & calibrating equipment to do this .....

Trac off, VSC trac and ABS signal went on while I was driving and won't turn off

Chances are, you have a traction control system that is ABS-controlled, like most vehicles. (The other is transmission-controlled.) For this to occur, an ABS sensor may have gone bad. This will cause those lights to come on and for the ABS/trac system to basically shut down.

You also may want to check the ABS fuse to be sure it isn't something easy (and cheap) like that, which might be at fault.

I hope this helps! :)

Skid control randomly engages without turning or braking on toyota sequoia. The car is forced to slow down by the vsc system and then it releases with the vsc off and trac off warning lights showing up on...

I had the same problem. the jerking breaking and pulling to one side, but if u are going over 70 miles and that happens to you, you better start praying cause it will **** so hard that its hard to control. the yaw rate sensor (prox $400 on line) needs to be replace and adjustment (i beleave only the dealer can adjust). What I did to solve the problem is to eliminate the sensor ($0 cost). now my SUV drives and handle just like a regular truck without traction control. Toyota is not helping on this matter and dealers just dont care. I will not put my family thru the same scarry ride. My solution eliminate the sensor, the light is on @ all time but in return a smooth ride. Im not telling you to do what I did, but Im telling you it is the Yaw Rate Sensor. Good luck.

VSC TRAC, TRAC OFF and CHECk ENGINE lights

You have to know what code is stored to fix the problem. Toyota's will generally display a Check Engine light, VSC and TRAC light all at the same time, even if it's a simple problem with an oxygen sensor (for example). You can disconnect the negative battery cable for a few minutes, even though you should a scan tool should be used, to clear out the code.
