Question about 2005 Pontiac Montana
Have a '05 pontiac Montana with Versatrak AWD, which of course doesn't work. 99% sure it's the differential clutch pump actuator valve & more specifically the temp. sensor within. The more I research this, the less appealing the Versatrak appears to be. Seems the differential clutches are somewhat engaged all the time, leading to often required multiple flushings of the magic Ver$atrak fluid. My question is; would it be possible to put a switch in the wire (for the new $400 dif. clutch pump actuator/temp. sensor that I haven't installed yet) to disable the AWD & then turn it on when actually needed? Has anybody done this, which wire is it, & do you cut continuity or send it to ground.

I had this happen to my car and paid entirely too much to the dealer to get it fixed. For me, it was the harness that you think it is, and it affected the battery- I needed to replace it- and also the computer. I'm not sure if mine was frayed, but I've heard that this harness has been known to become frayed and shorts out because of that, which is what I imagine causes the failure, and the shorting out is what destroyed my battery and fried my computer.
