I have an 1987 nissan d21 with the naps-z 2.4l engine and 5 speed standard transmission. i had to replace the transmission and i got one from a 1997 pickup with the ka24e. i'm trying to find the gear ratios of the 1987 transmission to compare with the new one to know about how much tweaking i need to do to my engine to work right with the newer gearing. can't find any info on the 87 transmission online. any help would be appreciated thank you =]

SOURCE: 97 Nissan Pickup transmission swap for 95 or 96 transmission?
yes this will fit, model years 88-97 will fit. I would recommend the newest model you can get, as they improved internal hardware after 93. hopefully this helps

The synchro's in your transmission are shot. Time to replace them or the transmission fully.
SOURCE: how do I replace the driveshaft bearing support?
You jack up the truck, and support it on jack-stands. (no wheel must touch the ground, for safety).
Remove the two front tires for visibility.
Put the tansmission in neutral and apply the handbrake.
Get under the truck and in the area of the support-bearing, mark the position of the driveshaft to the flange, which has 4-bolts.
Remove the 4-bolts.
Pry off the driveshaft with a flat-end screwd-river.
Remove the bolts holding up the support bearing.
Drop it down and pull off the support bearing.
Reverse these procedure for installation.
