Question about 1984 Dodge Pickup 4WD
I have an '85 RamCharger, 4WD with a manual transmission. I have a rather strange problem with the wiper motor. It mostly works but occasionally it just stops. This is a rather unfortunate occurance when it is snowing/raining like it was today. I bought a reconditioned motor but it didn't work either. The sprayer however does work.
One thing worth mentioning is the last time the motor went out and I went through the electrical and mechanical trouble shooting I was backing up and the wipers started working again. It was probably completely coincidental but it happened.
I am at a loss. Is there a hidden fuse or ciruit breaker I can't find? Any help is welcome.
The ground wire for the wiper motor is actually the bolts that go into the firewall. As the bolts corrode, the ground is lost, causing intermittent "failure" of the wiper motor. Clean the corrosion from the bolts and the wiper motor, then run an additional ground wire from the motor to the frame...that should resolve the problem.
Visit the vehicle help board at Ramchargercentral.com...they have a sticky on the subject...or do a thread search to learn more.
