Question about 2001 Cadillac Seville STS

1 Answer

Rear noise. I have a 2001 Cadillac Seville STS. I hear a clunking noise from the rear while I'm driving. I hear it even on a pretty smooth surface. The trunk is empty but it sounds like something is hitting something in there. What could it be?

My 2001 Cadillac Seville STS gets water in rear floor board on driver side from somewhere. How do I stop this from happening and fix problem?

Check the weatherstripping around the driver's side door(s) and window(s). Also, if you have a power sun/moon roof, check the weatherstripping there as well. If these areas check out fine, you may have to go to a shop and put the car on a lift so that the tech can get under it and check for holes or damage on the underside. Water intrusion always ends up in the lowest point, and finding the source is like herding cats: not impossible, but not a lot of fun.

First item that I would check is the idle control valve. you can increase the idle speed of your engine if it runs below normal. Since you get a check engine light, I would suggest to get the error code.

You can check out what the trouble code is by pushing and holding the information button and the up arrow (right side of instrument cluster above the radio) until all the instrument clusters light. Press the information button (last) to enter test mode. I've had an error C1234, meaning Left rear wheel sensor fault. I found the problem to be a corroded connector under the chasis just under the rear left door about 2 feet in. I had to by-pass (replace 1 wire due to corrosion at the connector.
