Jaguar 02 Stype, cranks excessively before turning on

Whenever my car has been off for more than 5 min it cranks excessively for like 1-4 sec before turning on. Just had 100k maintenance, replaced fuel filter, had fuel injectors checked (they're fine). Had this problem for a while, what is it? Help please!!!

Its sounds like your fuel pressure REGULATOR is bleed off and not holding fuel pressure in the system when you turn the car off.HOPE THIS HELPS

This problem can be caused by a number of thing's, u said the pump was replaced, but did u have a fuel pump pressure leak-down test run to make sure the system holds pressure after shutdown? another issue is octane, are u using the right fuel grade? another issue is carbon on the back of the intake valves, this causes excessive crank times, it is more common than most people think, this can be checked with a tool called a bore-a-scope, consult the dealer on this inspection.

Your jaguar has a pressur regulator built in fuel pump module . when the engine is off the valve should stay closed to maintain fuel pressur. if the regulator leaks the pressure dropes to zero and it takes longer crank time to build pressure again. i would install a in line gauge and start engine and turn it off.watch the pressure if it drops bellow 40 psi change fuel pump module. thats the most probable cause. i hope i was helpful.

even after you replaced the fuel pump you may have a pressure drop problem just check to see if it stays pressurized with the key off. if o.k. you have ecm (computer) control problem.

It Can Be A Number Of Things First Try Waiting When The Key Is In The acc Mode Then Starting It. If the car starts your fuel pump may be on its way out.
Do This Test And Let Me Know The Results

You need to have the fuel pressure checked in the fuel rail feeding the injectors. If the fuel bypass relief valve is weak or fuel the fuel pump is failing, then fuel pressure will not be high enough for the injectors to work properly.

Ok, On the V8 Motors There is a Heat Shield over the Starter or there is Supposed to be. The Problem is, When the Motor gets Hot The Starter and Solinoid are Absorbing the Heat from the Motor and Causing the Hard Start. You can have the Dealership Install a New Heat shield to Fix this Problem. Please Rate my Response, I need all the Help That I can Get! Thanks!

2000 Jaguar S Type. How do I check to see if the caqr is firing?

They make a little gauge that you put on a wire to see if have voltage in it. If not, you can pull a plug and ground it and crank it over and look for a spark. Pull off the coil wire and listen for a crack, Squirt some fuel into a cylinder and see if it will fire. A couple ways to check. Hope this helps.

How to unlock truck jaguar stype when no power

The button or the fob will not work with low or no battery power - you need to use the key. There is a keyhole on the boot under the trim or under by the reg. plate lights according to what facelift model you have.
good luck.
