SOURCE: pontiac sunfire valve noise

If it's a ticking noise that speeds up with the speed of the engine, it's a worn valve lifter.
You can try tightening it down by taking the valve cover off and tightening the bolt on the rocker arm, but don't tighten it too much, you will end up with other problems.

Does 1997 pontiac sunfire gt 2.4 L set it's own timing

No, The 2.4lt quad 4 has a timing CHAIN when it starts to get sloppy the chain must be replaced. As these engines have an internal ignition pack under the valve cover ther is no adjustment. Unless you are an acomplished mechanic I don't suggest you takle this on your own.

How do I change a a water pump on a 1996 pontiac sunfire with a 2.4 liter engine ?

This one is best left to someone with experience. You have to remove the exhaust manifold, and the timing chain to do this. You get only one chance at getting the timing components correctly aligned. If not aligned correctly, internal damage will occur.

How do i find out the size of my motor in a 1996 pontiac sunfire?

There will be a sticker or nameplate inside the engine compartment which notes the engine displacement either in C.I.D. or Liters. If not you can also find the VIN # and call your local Pontiac parts department and they will be able to tell you.

I have had a problem with my timing chain, I have replaced it twice and I am still having the same problem, what is going on?

I dont think a timing chain can make that sound "like a jet'.. When a timing chain goes bad - it will either fall of the gears or make a clanking sound..

The sound you describe seems as though it might be vacuum related or exaust or intake - somthing of that nature.

Need a diagram on how to replace a timing chain on a 1996 pontiac sunfire

I suggest that you check out the autozone.com website and register the car there. It doesn't cost anything and will give you access to an online repair manual for the car. The steps for replacing the timing chain can be found there. ( I checked ). Sure hope this helped and best wishes.
