The LED that iluminates the odometer on our 2005 Eqinox is "defective", and the dealer says I have to spend $400.00 for a $2.00 Light Bulb???

I thought of that. Then I called Chevrolet Customer Service Dept in Detroit, and they called back the local dealer (who said I'd have to spend $400.00) AND a new LED will be here on Thursday, at a cost of $2.26, plus tax. NO "shipping" costs! Bob

I would call up a scrap yard. They might have that model car depending on the year and you could probobly get it out of there for a much smaller fee.

Replace the odometer bulb 2005 equinox

There isn't a bulb back there any more. It is a LED (light emitting diode). They can be replaced. Soldered in. It is either a bulb type, two leads that have to be remove from the back side of the PC board. Or a surface mount that has to be removed from the front of the PC board. The bulb type is easy, the surface mount is about than 1/8 X 1/16 inch square.

My 2006 Torrent odometer light is burned out and the dealer said that it is expensive to replace. How can I replace it myself?

Your dealer is right, the expense is in removing the console and dash. It may be a light bulb or it might be a soldered LED. See if you can see or feel anything under the dash if you lay the seat flat and get your head down by the pedals.

I have an LED out behind the seat heater button in my 2005 Lexus. Dealer quoted about $250 to get to it, but that is only part of the front centre console.

Replace odometer bulb in 2006 hyundai elantra

It's a surface mount LED. Pull the Instrument panel. Find the on you want to replace. I use a razor to cut the solder and remove the LED. Use a fine tip soldering gun to replace the LED. It is easy the cover the whole LED with a big gun. Don't add to much heat for to long. You will destroy the LED. They are about 1/16th inch wide x 1/8 inch wide.

My led odometer, temperature and trip indicator light went out on my 2004 F150, is there a separate light bulb for this? or is it a backlit led device?

Yes, this is a bulb specific to the odometer area .

Find some directions online for a gauge overlay to remove the cluster from the dash, and the bulb is in a quarter twist holder right behind the odometer.

There are some threads at, in the technical articles / How to forum for the cluster overlay that might help with removing the cluster.

Odometer back light not functioning on a 2005 Ford F 150

IF the odometer numbers work correctly, and this is the back light when the parking lamps are on, the bulb is burnt out.

In this picture, the odometer backlight bulb is the 1/4 turn bulb holder that is removed in the lower left hand corner.

Odometer Light

I have a 2005 Equinox and recently had the problem with the odometer bulb going out. Only the bulb needs to be replaced--NOT THE ENTIRE CLUSTER!! The process to remove and replace the bulb is a simple one. First tilt the steering wheel out of place, pull bezel straight out carefully, and with 7mm screw head remove the four mounting screws and pull cluster out. Disconnect cluster and remove burnt out bulb by giving it a counter clockwise quarter turn. Insert new bulb and turn it clockwise quarter turn. Plug in cluster again, insert the mounting screws, replace bezel. Very simple. The bulb replacement that I used was different than the original but has the same voltage and watts--the old one had a white base with frosted cover, while the new one had a beige base and clear--which made the new light brighter but very workable. I used 39118 Bulb 20210B24 DE66K2 12V 1.5w or this one should work: . I hope this helps..

Radio will not iluminate at night

U will need to pull the radio out of the dash and remove the top cover of the radio chassis, under that cover there is a tiny light bulb in a little socket that twists into the back of the dial display, the bulb looks like a miniature peanut, this is the back light for the radio display, u can buy the bulb at any full service parts store or at the dealer, about $1

Odometer light faded away still working but no light, how do I fix this problem The answer we need is how to replace this bulb. The back light on my LED odometer is not lighting up either.

This is not LED but LCD, this means it has no light emitting capability of it's own, there is a back bulb light behind it, you will have to pull the cluster out to replace that odometer back light bulb.

2000 buick century odometer does not iluminate

This is a common problem.
After many hours of internet research, I stumbled upon the only repair suggestion that sounded reasonable to me.
I performed the repair and it was successful.
I now have odometer and prnd321 lights.
There are four small resistors on the upper right section of the instrument cluster circuit board (just to the left of the tripmeter reset).
The solder connections of these resistors become corroded over time. Three fell to floor when I ran my finger over them.
I replaced the four resistors with 1/2 Watt 150 ohm resistors (soldering skills are required).ead66ee.jpg
