Question about 1998 Dodge Neon

2006 malibu car has not been started in 2months first time

It has been record cold in our area and the car is in a carport. It only has about 1/4 tank of gas. When I first started it, it started up ran for a couple minutes and shut off. Then when I would try to re-start it the car turns over and starts and shuts back off. If I try to step on the gas it instantly shuts off. I was told that it might be the fuel lines frozen is this possible and if so how do I unthaw them

Buy a couple bottles of gas line antifreeze .. it's alcohol and will **** up the water ... i recommend at least one of the small bottles each time you fill up your tank

Please take a moment to rate this solution.. thanks

This cold weather can play havoc with any car...Be sure you are keeping gas tank above half full. Add a bottle of "Heat" and a bottle of injector cleaner for help...Also do have your Battery and Alternator checked at your local auto parts store...this should be a free service. Please don't expose yourself to being stranded by something that is giving you valuable warning signs...Also how long since a quality oil change...another major concern in cold weather. Hope this helps.

How do I replace fuel guage 2006 malibu

the most probable cause for a failed fuel gauge is the sending unit in the gas tank and as luck would have it the 2006 has a plastic tank so no worries about rust.

Need to replace fuel level sending unit in an, 06' chevy malibu

The sender is in the fuel tank. Some GM vehicle's tanks are such a pain to remove that they have an access panel above it(trunk or rear seat area?) so the sender can be changed more easily. If not, you'll have to drop the tank to change it.

1998 sts wont start unless u hit the gas then it runs rough ..u put it in drive it wont run over 2000 rpms then it dies

Is the gas tank above 1/2 tank now?

A worn / aged fuel pump will fail when it's hot and the fuel level is low (example: below 1/4)

Park your car in a cool area.

Start the car when it's cold outside,

Check the engine fuel pump pressure.
Replace the fuel pump relay, fuel filter, fuel pump and fuel pump stainer at the same time.

I have not started my car in two months and it has been very cold. I only have a 1/4 tank of gas or less in my car. I just got home went to start it and it turns over started for a couple minutes then shut...

sounds to me you may be out of gas

alot of vehicles start to mis read at 1/4 tank

i would just through some gas in it and try it again

cycle the key on and off a couple of times to prime the fuel system

so you turn the key and the starter does nothing... i would suggest that you attempt to start it while someone hits the starter with a hammer... not that gently but don't break the starter either.

If it suddenly turns over you need a new starter. and right away because using a hammer only works a few times.

Incidentally it was minus 20 here last nite lol

I am having trouble with my speedometer not working occasionally and now my seat belt light is coming on sometimes too. Is this the instrument panel cluster? Or something else? 1998 Dodge Neon. Backstory is as follows: -We take very good care of it and have one dedicated mechanic. -It has only had two owners; my parents and I. -We replaced the battery 2 months ago. -Mechanic checked to make sure the speedometer sensor was working. -We have had issues with the radio for years where it will randomly turn on and off, typically brought on by a stuffed trunk OR wet weather. -The speedometer works until we hit a bump and then the needle flies up and down or sometimes just stops working all together. -Mechanic has made mention of there being some Chrysler specific battery cable that is a smaller side cable and it is not in good condition. -Currently, my problem is that I can't find an old 1998 Dodge Neon in the salvage yard because yards are doing a lot of 2002 and newer vehicles and automatically crushing the others. The meat and potatoes of my question is what direction do I go in? And what of these symptoms ties to each other? And will adding new solder to the points on the panel fix it or is it something else? I'm trying to find least expensive to most expensive options and I'm rather handy but can't drop an engine or transmission or anything so keep this in mind. My handiness ends at resoldering the pins BUT I do have a mechanic I trust, but I fear that maybe I'm not combining symptoms properly. I have the money to repair an item I KNOW is wrong but not to chicken hunt around for problems.
