Question about 2003 Nissan Maxima

1 Answer

03 maxima. If the car sits too long the battery ends up draining.

Took it to two shops but both can't seem to find anything. I know it's a drain issue. What would be some other things that could cause this?
-Thanks Matt

Disconnect battery when not in use and see if it will start if you connect it back up just before you need to use it. If it works something is draining battery.

Mitsubishi Diamante 2002 - slow battery drain when not running.

This problem may be a drain or a bad battery or alternator.

The first thing to do before going on trying to find the system that is draining the battery would be to have the battery tested and charging system tested.

A weak battery will seem ok after the car is jumped or will barely start the car and the alternator will charge it even though the alternator is overworking due to weak battery and during the day or when car does not sit long it will seem ok. then when car sits overnight or a few days battery will weaken on its own, making it look like a drain,

so first step is battery test and alternator/charging system test.

My battery keeps dieing i dont know why

You may have a key off drain. That is where a component, light etc.., stays on or there is a short to ground in the electrical system that drains the battery as it sits. To test this after driving the car disconnect the batterys negative cable, breaks the circuit not allowing a drain, and reconnect it right before driving it again. If it starts right up chances are you do have a drain. If you still have problems then the fault probably lies in the starting/chrging system, battery, starter, or alternator. In any case you should have your car looked at by a shop that does auto electrical work or a versed mechanic that can test the starting/charging system.

Why is my battery draining

Unhook the battery and have someone sit in the car while you touch the contacts to the battery. + pos. If something is stuck on, draining your battery, you should hear is pop on when you make the connection leading you to your problem. Or maybe its just a defective battery

I have a 2007 nissan maxima, and the 3rd battery just died on it, I charged the battery and it tested fine, so did the alternator, I let the car sit over nite and battery is dead again. I think I may have...

Yes, it does seem like something in your vehicle is draining the battery. Think back and what has stopped working or even started working better before the problem began? If you can't think of anything, then you will need a clamp on ampmeter to troubleshoot the problem. And it will have to be one that goes to a small value.

Then you just take the wiring bundle apart and check wire by wire until you find something that is drawing current that shouldn't be.

Battery is draining while being parked

How old is the battery? have it checked at the local part shop like Advance Auto or Auto Zone etc -
Take down the Vin # and call the local dealer - - ask about recalls and Service bulletins.

Every time my 04 nissan max sits for a couple of days it wont start its not the alt and i have changed the battery

You obviousily have a drain on your battery. However get your battery checked again anyways just bc it's new doesn't mean its properly rotated. Think abt a lb of ground beef at the grocery store. Just bc it's there doesn't mean the date doesn't have to be checked. I would start there. If that isn't it, I would take it to a electrical shop. You would have something draining your battery. Good Luck, but try the battery.

93 Nissan Maxima does not start after replacing the battery.

you have a parasitic drain on the battery, you need to have the car tested with an amp meter to determine what is causing the draw. an easy way to see if you have a draw is to remove the negative battery cable hook one end of test light to positive on battery and the other end to the cable you dis connected if the light is on you have a draw from the battery, hope this helps if not get back to me and we'll do some other tests.please rate my fix as i strive to be the best Thanks Ray
