Question about 1995 Ford Windstar

2 Answers

I have a 1999 4 door ford explorer. Sunday, I put the power window down in the back driver side window, about half way down for the dog, and when I got home the window would not go up. I don't hear a moter going. It appears dead. I can't pull the window up either.

I don't believe that your regulator has cables as the earlier post mentioned. It sounds like it may be a switch problem. Try banging on the door jamb while pushing on the switch. That may trigger it into working. This probably wont last though. It's most likely either the switch or the motor.

join the clan ,work dead here as well its just that i do love a wind up.right whats happened is that the cables that lift the windo up and down which are driven by a motor ,well the dog resting its head on the window has caused this,or it hasnt helped it one of the cables has jammed and now it will have shredded it.the only thing you can do is to replace the mechanism complete because thats how it comes as a new unit or if you handy with a few tools then sometimes you can replace the cables with a couple of bicycle brake cables with the same nipple on one end and use an electrical connector on the other ,the type with the 2 screws in If you dont want to spend money on an older vehicle that might not pass its anual mechanical inspection then take the door trim off and undo the two bolts on the bottom of the window so it disconnects with mechanism and hold window up with a length of 2x1 wood.Although it would have to be repaired for its anual inspection as this would be a failure here in spain if its fitted it has to work.Only wish i could buy new electric car here in spain but its not allowed as it doesnt have a certificate of homoglonation,in other words someone hasnt invented a rubber stamp for it yet plus their would be no petrol duty to pay either

Before you replace anything, inspect the connector pins in both the driver's door switch and the passenger door switch. If you don't find any problem with these connector pins, replace the driver's door control switch.

Same thing happened to my drivers side. I have a 1999 Ford Explorer XLT. Mechanic found a broken wire in the wiring boot that runs from the door to the body. Spliced wire back together. Fixed the problem.

Take a test light to the motor connector and probe both wires and see if you have power on both sides. First press the botton up if power press down. if you have power than your window motor is bad or your elect repair is bad.leave comment.

Check the fuse panel first, after that check your fuse relays under the hood, if not then it might be a wiring problem.
