Question about 1989 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme

1 Answer

Caliper is not Setting correct with New brake Pads on.

I have a 1989 Oldsmobile Cutless Supreme 3.1L engine.. I'm having trouble setting the Caliper back in place with the New brake pads on.
The Piston is set back all the way in. Their are only 2 bolts that hold
the Caliper in place, so it doesn't move back and Forth. Please give me some Advise to solve this problem..

You have the wrong brake pads they are too fat, similar with VW golfs ,different manufacturers of brakes used during build run.better still recycle this beast and turn it into 3 smaller cars and save the planet

1989 toyota pickup front disk brake pads replaced, now the front calipers wont clear the new disk brake pads! Any solutions, please?

remove caliper, push disc all way home, put wheel nut on to hold home, retry fitting them the disc may be slightly scued. If no go try diffrent brand of pad I had same prob with a diffrent car last week & diffrent brand pad was 2mm thiner. If can't exchange pads get piece of emery paper on flat surface & sand away top part of pad material in round motions both ways till they fit. :-)

I can't seem to compress calipers for replacing rear disc brake pads, why?

open the blled valve and try to compress, if it does not compress make sure your emergency barke is not on, if it's not on then compress calipers if it won't compress you may have a sticking caliper,if sticking remove one caliper and push the brake pedal down it should dislodge the stuck brake caliper if not you have a bad master cylinder check valve.
